Grade 3-5-Two serviceable but additional series entries. Dunnahoo and Silverstein begin with the history of each game and add interesting details about changes over the years. They fill in with short anecdotes about well-known players and rules governing the election into the Halls of Fame. Readers are given a brief overview of what visitors can expect to see in the respective museums' exhibits. Other than this information, there is little else here that cannot be found in any sports history. The authors conclude with a list of the electees to the Halls of Fame (in Football, Dan Reeves, former coach of the Broncos and current coach of the Giants is listed as deceased). Most photos are bright, colorful, and add to the text; however several of indoor shots in both books lack clarity. Youngsters going to Springfield, Massachusetts (Basketball) or Canton, Ohio (Football) will be better served by a pamphlet from the vertical file or Visitor's Bureau.
