About the Author

Fran Webster is a former Defensive Basketball Coach at the University of Pittsburgh and the originator of the "Amoeba" multiple defense system.. With him as a high school coach, Webster's teams won 70 percent of their games over a 16-year period.

Although his high scholl record is quite impressive, it was at the college level that Webster introduced the classic "Amoeba" defense. First at Westminster(PA)College and later at the University of Pittsburgh, he spent 12 seasons refining his unique winning system.

Webster has received numerous awards for his coaching skills and has been inducted into five Halls of Fame.

This is the best kep secret of coaches around the nation - and in Europe, too. As the first and best guide to combination - zone and man-to-man - defensive systems, the drills alone, if put to use, tend to improve a player's defensive skill. It's a good total system, too. It's complicated at times, but the book covers all the bases. This material really can be used all levels of the game. No padding.
