4.0 out of 5 stars Another Solid Album, April 7, 2006
This review is from: Bass Chalice (Audio CD)
Bass Chalice is yet another really solid album from a group that I think deserves more attention. If you like their first two albums then you definitely need to pick this one up. Bass Chalice, for the most part, holds true to form to their 70's roots style with modern touches that make this group so great to listen to. That being said, I feel that this album is more modern sounding than the other two. They have added some horns into the mix (ie. "Suits and Ski Masks") that add a jazzier feel as well as losing a bit of that really rootsy studio sound that they have captured so well in the past. The first track "Blood Money" has stood out as the best track for me and creates an almost impossible standard for the rest of the disk to live up to. I agree with the last review that not every track is strong although still a must-have if you are a fan. I can't wait until they go on tour.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Irie, February 28, 2006
This review is from: Bass Chalice (Audio CD)
Bass Chalice is, in my opinon, 10ft ganja plants best album I was disappointed in Midnight landing, very pleased with hillside airstrip, but bas chalice has to top them with out a doubt. Like its title bass chalice as some very original and enjoyable bass lines. "blood money" is a great song with a very cool bass line and doesnt go on for to long the same goes for "bass chalice" which has an uplifteing beat and finishes the cd perfecttly. the reason it doesnt get a 5 is because not every song is all that great. Overall If you are a roots fan and treasure well written bass lines bass chalice should be in your roots reggae collection

It's good chill roots reggae music. Nothing amazing (although Blood Money is definitely 5-star), but a real solid album overall

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute Pure Vibes!, June 18, 2009

This review is from: Bass Chalice (Audio CD)
Bass Chalice is a stellar album! 10 ft. goes on and on creating quality reggae. Excellence all the way through from Last Dance, a super-chilaxin melody to Swedish Prison, a rootsy soothing jam with some killer-mad sax playing. The instrumental track Engine Trouble brings it tough and lovely with smashing bass, jungle bound beats, and plenty classic reggae chop guitar to delight. Every track supplies the musical goods in heavy overly delicious warm helpings. No corny mess here, just straight up, no chaser, roots loving, guitar ripping ganja plant masterly putting it on. Buy this awesome work, and you will draw no bad card!
