I had seen these shoes at a Bass Outlet in SC, but didn't buy them; so I checked them out on Amazon & ordered a B width in my size. It turned out that I had to exchange them for the D width, but Amazon made this very easy to do. The shoes are comfortable & handsome. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase shoes again from Amazon in the future.

I have been wearing these shoes now since I was forced to dress up for church on Sunday morning as a kid. I'm now almost 50 years old. Needed a new pair, and purchased them on-line. They arrived and the quality of the leather is cheap and I couldn't even get my foot into them. I have worn a size 8.5D since I was a teen ager. The nice thing, or so I thought, is that I wouldn't have to try them on. I bought them for an out of state wedding and due to time constraints, had them shipped directly to the hotel to be held for my arrival. Convinced my socks were too thick and in desperation, I ran across the street from my hotel to a Nordstrom to buy a pair of men's ultra thin hosier. That didn't work either. So back to Norstroms again I went to now buy a new pair of shoes. Very disappointing. Quality is cheap, leather is hard and unforgiving and I'm totally bummed Bass has sold out. No longer worth the money. I thought I would be buried in a pair of these.

Very sharp looking shoes. Just ordered black shoes in 8 3E from Florsheim and they were a perfect fit, these run just a little bit bigger, mostly in the length. Also slightly wider than Florsheim.

I don't know where some companies get the size dimensions for their products, but research is long over-due for many apparel companies, Bass included! Jus because the foot is longer does not necessarily means it's wider too. Especially in the heel. And the top band is taller as well. If they produced 1/2 sizes after size 11, I would by them. my concern is after wearing them, are they going to stretch out too much and wear like an expensive pair of flip-flops.
The leather is rather stiff and needs longer than expected time to break-in, but as for style, I do like the look, and have to give up comfort in order to do so.

This is a very attractive shoe and wears well with a suit or jeans. Great quality and fit and finish. Product delivered as specified.

I found the shoe to be a little stiff. It is tight fitting across the top of my foot and a tightly fitted. The shoe looks good, but it lacks some basic comfort I have found in similar shoes of this style.

The Bass Layton looks great out of the box, but I couldn't help but think that they wouldn't hold up for very long in daily wear conditions. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make that determination because the shoes are extremely narrow and fit very tightly despite the fact that I ordered the same size I wear in many other brands. While I was able to get the shoe on with the help of a shoe horn, the opening of the shoe is very small, and it is hard to imagine how someone with anything but very narrow feet would be able to get these on and wear them comfortably.

Of course, if you have very narrow feet, these may be the shoes for you. They look great, but because they didn't fit, I cannot comment on their durability. I did notice some of the 'plastic' look/effect that other reviewers have mentioned, but that may very well break in with extended wear.

I have been wearing Bass Layton loafers in burgundy and black for almost 15 years. I recently purchased two pair (black and burgundy) and I'm wondering if I was sold seconds. Both pair are much tighter than previous pairs although I ordered and received the correct size. The insole is cut off halfway and the main insole area is raw leather. The outside is so hard it feels like plastic. Unfortunately, I have worn both pair several times assuming they would loosen up, but have not.

While I love buying things from Amazon, I have had no previous problems with buying this shoe from Zappos. Can't say one has anything to do with the other, but having the same problem with two different shoes is frustrating.

We purchased these shoes Sept 30 and within 45 days they have come apart at the seams. I called Bass and was told sorry but you are stuck with the shoes, nothing we can do to help you. Did not wear these shoes more than 5 times and what is even more discouraging than the shoes poor quality was the attitude of C/S.

This Bass loafer is a classic! And very stylish too. They have a true fit. Looks well as a dress or casual shoe.
