Great fit - lousy sole,

Great to slip into new shoes and have them fit well (well, they fit ME well) - lace up and off I go. BUT... the junky sole leaves much to be desired. One doesn't have to be so old to remember "real" oxfords with stitched soles made of materials that last more than 3 wearings. I've bought several pair of Bass Enfield but every single one of them split their soles in record time. The heels also run down, and of course can't be reheeled. It's took bad that Bass can't be bothered with better materials. I keep seeking a better manufacturer for simple work-a-day oxfords. When I find it, it will be bye- bye Bass.

Love the shoes, but soles cracked after 4 wearings!,

I am disappointed in these shoes, even though they are so cute and I have gotten a lot of compliments the few times I have worn them. The sole cracked up to the leather after they were worn only 4 times!!! Now I am a little afraid to wear them because I don't know if they will be wearable if the soles keep going the way they are.
When you spend the extra money to buy actual leather shoes, you would expect the soles not to fall apart! And these are Bass brand - what has happened to that company that they are now cheap and unreliable?

Comfy. but not made very well,

I have these in the tan perforated model. They look great! Very comfortable for lots of walking. However, the red sole split on both shoes where it is scored under the ball of the foot. They are still wearable, except on rainy days. The water comes right in that split and soaks the leather sole. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Great Shoes (true to size). Everyone coos over these . . . as if they aren't total classics!

Failed after 6 months wear,

The sole is really soft, so it wears very easily. And the sole split all the way through, across the ball of the foot. Made in China. Crap !
The shoe is bigger than sized, and it got looser after the split, so now my feet just wallow in them. Fortunately, I only spent $35 for mine, but if I'd spent more, I'd be pissed ! Not at all what I thought I was buying when I went for Bass brand. So sad.

When I saw Bass offering saddle shoes this year, I couldn't resist ordering a pair. In fact, I ordered 3 pairs including Blue/Brown, Wheat/Cream, and Denim/Cream. These are beautiful shoes -- two pairs are going back, though. The navy in the first pair is more of a greenish-blue, and the wheat/cream don't look right with my khakis, so those were returned. Since a girl really only needs one pair of saddle shoes, I'm keeping the Denim/Cream. When I put them on, I feel like a teenager which is quite a stretch since I'm 68! But they're cute, very comfortable, and lots of fun to wear -- again. Now where the heck did I put my roller skates?

LOVE these! They feel great and look awesome. Remind me of when I was a kid, but so comfortable as Bass is known for, and came promptly!! Makes me feel like a kid again and they go with everything. (slacks, jeans, etc)

I love these shoes! Rather than a pair of really dorkey looking walking shoe, I bought them for work since I do a lot of walking and standing on concrete. These shoes are comfortable for the whole 10 + hours!
Most definately taking them on my walking tour vacation in the Spring.

Bass sure knows how to make shoes, and these are a fine example of their handy work. The shoe hugs your foot with out being too stiff. It does take a little time to work them into walking shape, but once there, it's smooth sailing! The edges of the dark leather is perforated wingtip style, and the combinaton of the dark and white with the cut out styling is beautiful! These are no ordinary saddle shoes by any means, I should know! There is however, no real arch support, which is my only complaint- Other than that, I love these shoes and show them off every chance I get, plus, as per usual with Amazon, the price was definitely right! I have a few pairs in different color combos, and I love them all. If you too love saddle shoes, and want a better than the typical saddle shoe offered by other companys, this might be just the thing for you too!

Great looking, Could be better.,
This review is from: Bass Women's Enfield Oxford (Apparel)
Love the way this looks. Be warned though, these are FLAT and have no arch support whatsoever. The surface of the rolled edge around the opening peeled off within the first week of wear in the areas which touch when my ankle are crossed. Which is cosmetic but, I find irritating and for me the only downside so far.
