A heartwarming adventure...well, maybe not exactly heart-warming, but pretty good. Hmm...that may be overstating it. I'd say that you could certainly read it if you were stuck in a doctor's waiting room for a few hours. My son gave me a copy of "The Alto Wore Tweed" for beach reading. Now that I am home and miles from any beach, I am still laughing as I read Mark Schweizer's other Liturgical Mysteries. The "hero" of Mr. Schwrizer's series is a detective, a musician and a "would be" author who slips his latest writings into the choir folders for Sunday sermon reading. I have introduced "The Alto Wore Tweed" to all ages and find that they join me in the laughter. One friend who is recovering from surgery told me he is used to skimming as he reads, but he found that he can't skim TAWT for fear of missing another Schweizer gem. A "G" rating for an A+ read. Although this review is for the Alto, all of this series is Great Fun.

This is one of the best series of humorous mysteries ever. You get two stories in one, both laugh-out-loud funny. Bonuses are the North Carolina mountain setting and the Episcopal Church choir motif (but you don't have to be Episcopal, churchy, or even musical to chuckle your way through). I have all these books on my iPhone's Kindle app and love to read and reread them in airports and on planes -- where people probably look at me funny as I giggle about "saving" Kokomo the ape, a 6-foot stuffed buffalo Christmas present, and other sublime foolishness.
