These Guide books for the different dog breeds are the best. From cover to cover the content is related to the designated breed and all the photos are of that particular breed of dog. So many specific dog breed books tend to fade into a general dog care section about midway with photos of various dog breeds instead of the specific breed you got the book to view. Half the fun is seeing the breed photos of the dog you are interested in caring for.

I recently bought a Basset as a gift for a friend and added this book. He says it helps him to better understand the dog's behavior.

This book has given me a wealth of knowledge on my Basset Hounds. I especially love all of the pictures of the dogs evolution to it's present day looks. This is a great book for people that want to do more than scratch the surface of the breed. It's a good book for Basset Breeders to have on hand for reference.
