My husband is an Upright Bassist, and a huge fan of Ray Brown, one of the best there ever was in that field. This CD is loaded with virtuosoistic work, and gives a great overview of this mega-talented musician's life work. It's on the ipod too and we hear it again and again. My husband actually studies it! Well worth getting if you love superlative jazz.

Superb. The famous, talented bassist Ray Brown has several different all-star lineups (check the CD info online) of amazing musicians backing him up in this 2-CD album. One of the best purchases I have made as far as jazz albums go.

I really enjoy this album. As an added bonus, you get to hear Gene Harris on some of the tracks (I'm a big Gene Harris fan). Nice, straight ahead bluesy Jazz and not overpowering. Can listen directly or have on in background. Definitely recommended.

The entire album is outstanding, but "How Insensitive" alone is worth the cost of the album. Brown is an first rate bassist, but, more importantly, he knows and gets excellent musicians to play with him. rcl
