Very catchy beats, esepcially with tracks 2,3,6,7,8, and 11. The rest are good too. Will they make another volume????

4.0 out of 5 stars great songs, bad mixing, January 22, 2003

This review is from: Basslines (Audio CD)
Basslines is one of the best speed garage albums you can buy. What makes the album so great is the succession of fantastic tracks. Standouts include ultrafunkula, the line and love commandments. The reason Basslines does not receive 5 stars is simple- poor mixing. Songs do not blend effortlessly into one another, as they do on better compilations. Further, the last few tracks on the album are HORRIBLE. With vocals like "You are the new generation" repeated over and over in a chipmunk-esque fashion, and "Here comes the bassline" making an otherwise flawless album slightly cheesey. Nevertheless, fans of speed garage and house will thoroughly enjoy this album.

Basslines covers a great segment of the speed garage genre and had me dancing from the moment mashed the play button.. it has everything from light and happy housey tunes to more dark and pounding whomp whomp kickass d&b basslines.. this is a definite must have if you like to wiggle your butt on the dancefloor..

5.0 out of 5 stars Moonshine is first again with "Speed Garage", February 9, 2000
This review is from: Basslines (Audio CD)
When I first saw the jewel case for this CD the primary thing that interested me was `Moonshine Music' banner. Buying Techno CD's can be difficult, as you probably know, and I have never been disappointed with a Moonshine Release. With that said, The second thing that caught my eye was the name for the new style of Techno on the inside; Speed Garage.

This is the first and only `Speed Garage' Style Techno CD I have ever owned. I can't seem to find any others.

When I purchased "Basslines" I had only one question; what is `Speed Garage?' I soon put it together. This verging new style appears, to me anyway, to be the inevitable fusion between 90's style `pop dance' music and `hard trance.'(With a tiny bit of `industrial' mixed in).

An interesting combination to say the least. This style seems to be DJ based. In other words the mixing is what makes this style of music not as much the musical artists, I could be wrong. A good DJ, as demonstrated in this CD, takes a dance track, (i.e. De'Lacy - Hideaway) lays the vocals over some new electronic kicks and adds some bass that would blow out concert speakers. I knew this type of music was a long time in coming but it is like nothing I have ever heard before. It is fantastic.

I tend to consider myself a music enthusiast. You can take my word ford it, if you dare, this CD is definitely worth having if you love electronic dance music or if you are a Techno head. At the very least, give a good listening.
