THE ONLY THING I LIKE IS THE GUITARIST.,
By A Customer

TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE THAT WOULD LIKE TO SIT BACK AND LISTEN TO SOME HEAVY TUNES-YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT STUFF HERE. THIS MUSIC LEAKS ADRENALINE AND ANGER - ALL MIXED UP IN SOME POWERFUL CHORDS- PLAYED BY THE LATE GUITARIST "LIVEFAST" DAN YOUNG- WHO IS SADLY NO LONGER WITH US. SO GO AHEAD AND PICK THIS ONE UP WHILE YOU HAVE THE CHANCE- BECAUSE IT IS WORTH THE MONEY- AND YOU WILL NEVER HEAR THIS KIND OF TALENT AGAIN...... WE LOVE YOU DAN!!!!!!!!!!1

There are few albums out there that i cant actually sit down and listen to all the way through, and this is one of them. I have thousands of cd's and none of them compare to this album. I actually heard about these guys in a BMX magazine about 6 months before the record itself came out. Kinda weird, i was digging in the bargin bin at a local record store and there this shiny pearl was, i knew i heard of them, but i couldnt remember where. When i got in the car and popped it in i was blown away. The opening song has so many messages in so little words... If your into deep messages, twisted thoughts, and straight up southern heavy metal... pick these guys up.

Heavy- yet listener friendly debut...,

Spite's debut "Bastard Complex" is a mix of hardcore songs and hits. The vocals remind me of a soft Chino from the deftones at times, but then he just lets go into convulsing screams at other times. Great songs, great cd.

I can't believe it has been almost 10 years since I last saw Dan play.. up on that Stage ripping through those chords! God how I miss those Days at Fat City and Tremont!.... We still miss you Dan. I still play the CD, with all it's lyrics in all their Glory, to the boys on a regular basis, so that they can hear their Uncle Dan ROCK OUT! You should see Hunter (your namesake) on Guitar hero... jammin in spirit and soul!!We miss you Big Bro! I know you are looking over us and one day we will see you again... hope you're ROCKING out whereever you are!! WE LOVE YOU!! Melissa, Ryan(who you haven't met, but you will LOVE HIM!!), Bruce, who is now 15! (where does the time go??_ Justin... still the shrimp, but Dynamite DOES come in small packages! and Hunter!! (who was born 9 months to the DAY that you left us, and who carries a small part of you with him, of this I am sure! ;-) RIP 08/01/1999 LIVEFAST Dan Young!

This is a great band. The one thing I like about this band Is. the guys voice you will never hear a voice like his, it is so diffrent from any metal singer i know. And the powerful guitar riffs.korn and slipknot have nothing on this band.

I bought this album off of amazon for a penny therefore I didn't expect to be blown away or anything when I actualy heard the album. It's a good thing too because I wasn't blown away at all. Mediocre is the best I can give this album, the music was heavy and I realy liked it at first but it doesn't realy change throughout the album so it does get a little monotanous. That was the best part of the album, the lead singer (don't know his name), sounded like Henry Rollins from the Rollins Band at his BEST moment which wasn't much, they were poor but accompanied by good lyrics would make them bearable. Unfortunately the worst asset of this album is the lyrics, they were atrocious. I got the feeling listening to this that they sat down and wrote the lyrics for this album in a half a day. Almost like they would come up with one line and then the next line which would end with a rhyme not matter how good or bad it sounded. I give this album 3 stars because the music is really good, just repetitive. I will say the music is really angry, lots of cussing and pissed off lyrics. I won't listen to this album much but if someone or something pisses me off really bad one day it put me in the mood to listen to this. This is my opinion anyway.

this is where metalcore started!,

Spite sounds like metalcore, and they should be credited with starting the new fad in metal. I am glad that the nu-metal fad is starting to wind down, and for us true metalheads, that is a good thing. this album is a treasure. it should be worth more since Dan died, which I didn't know until I read some reviews. every song is a standout.

Spite was one of my favorite bands, period, end of story. I hate Dan died. I truly miss those shows at Tremont and especially Fat City. There was no better venue for seeing a Spite show than Fat City....talk about up close and personal!Anyway, I have promoted these guys to everyone I know and if you like metal that doesn't sound like everything else out there, then this is for you. It really doesn't get any better than this. This stuff was cutting edge when it came out, and is still way ahead of new stuff coming out today. IMO, A LOT of other bands still have some catching up to do. Sorry for Dans family and good to see his sis here....I still love Spite. This and Heavy Whipping Cream are on permanent rotation in my home cd carousel.....
