Book Description

April 27, 2004

Two books in one!

Turns out that The Bitch In the House was only half the story. Daniel Jones, husband of Cathi Hanauer, has rallied the men for the "literary equivalent of The Full Monty," in which a group of thoughtful, passionate and often hilarious men lay it bare when it comes to their wives and girlfriends, their hopes and fears. Many of these husbands and fathers contemplate aspects of their personal lives they've never before revealed -- kicking open the door on their marriages and sex lives, their fathering and domestic conflicts, their most intimate relationships and situations.

Powerful, heartfelt and irreverent, this is a bold, unprecedented glimpse into the glaring truths of modern relationships.

Audio contains the following essays, written and read by the contributors

Preface -- Cathi Hanauer
Introduction -- Daniel Jones
A Bachelor’s Fear -- Steve Friedman
I Am Man, Hear Me Bleat -- Fred Leebron
My List of Chores -- Christopher Russell
Ward and June R Us -- Rob Spillman
Embracing the Little SteeringWheel -- Manny Howard
Log Man -- David Gates
Chivalry on Ice -- Daniel Jones

From AudioFile

This is one of those cleverly titled packages that work better in print than as an audiobook. A husband (Daniel Jones) and wife (Cathy Hanauer) capitalize on the success of Hanauer's tell-all women's essay compilation, THE BITCH IN THE HOUSE, with a new collection of essays read aloud by the mollified and mortified husbands living today's version of middle and upper-middle-class life. Most of these skilled writers (yet very unskilled readers) belong to the latte-and-angst club, questioning the balance in their marriages as they juggle home, job, kids, budget. Here's where the battle of the sexes meets yuppie hell...so if you love daytime talk shows, buy this audiobook immediately. 5.0 out of 5 stars loved it, but info is misleading..., June 29, 2004

This is a great package of essays--so much fun to listen too. Each one is about 20-30 mins long, exactly as long as my commute! Really funny too.

But the info here is misleading. The CD actually has a bunch of essays from BOTH Bastard on the Couch and Bitch in the House...let's see, there's six from the female version and eight from the male version, adn they alternate in a really effective way.

I ordered it just for the men's essays, so this was a total bonus to get both. Just so you know!

I thought it to be funny and interesting but the CD content is more of a complain and regret of the people. Bought it as a present for hubby and it turned into a complain and negligence and incapabilities pointed.

I will say it has nothing positive in it,so better not buy for yourself also
