5.0 out of 5 stars Not Easy to Put Down, November 20, 2009

I enjoyed every minute of reading the book. Linda Lou's writing is honest and real. I related to so much of her love story and admire her strength, humor and ability to fall yet, get back up and keep on going again and again. In her voice, there is something for everyone reading the book, not just those that have dealt with divorce or loss but those that may need the courage to take a different road. This is a must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for the ladies, December 4, 2009
Most guys aren't as bad as the eponymous Bastard Husband but we've all had our moments and this book illustrates perfectly how our thoughtless actions can hurt the ones we love. Linda tells her tale with an unflinching honesty, humor and grace. Her book could have, justifiably, been a much more bitter diatribe but it works so much better this way. It truly is a love story.

I also think it serves another purpose and that's why I want to lend it out and already gave a copy to my mom. I have so many friends and family members who were or are in similar situations to what Linda went through and I always hear how they think they're alone. More people need to see this, not as a self help book, but merely as a story. I think people connect better that way.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT BOOK!!!!, November 23, 2009
I am only 28 years old and I LOVED the book. I have never been married or divorced, but Linda's writing is witty and refreshing and she is so darn funny! I read it in one sitting, I could not put it down. She is a wonderful writer, she incorporates humor in what would normally be a difficult time for someone. Bastard Husband is a great book for someone in her same situation, but also for anyone who just wants to read an exceptional book. I HIGHLY recommend this book to any and every one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny and thoughtful, a must-read for all divorced girls out there!, December 30, 2009
I started this book on a flight from DC to San Francisco - I was absolutely exhausted but I could not put it down. Linda recounts the thoughts of every woman who has dealt with divorce and is struggling to get her life back together: the good, the bad, the funny, the sad, all with a personal, unique touch that makes you feel like you're her best friend and she's telling you this story over a beer at a bar. Linda has an uncanny ability to express her feelings and thought during certain moments, and I found myself saying "that's exactly it", "I hadn't thought about it that way" or "I felt that way too" in my head all the time.

A very fun, creative, and endearing story. It flows nicely and is easy to read because it's so well written!

I simply loved it.

Linda Lou sure does deliver a heck of a book to readers with Bastard Husband!

She keeps readers interested with her style of writing, and this book appeals to almost any type of reader. You'll laugh, you'll tear up, you'll laugh a lot more, you'll cry. There's a little bit of everything in this treasure.

When you turn the last page, you'll wish it wasn't over

I'm a young adult and know pretty much next to nothin' about love, much less marriage and divorce.

So if I enjoyed reading it, then you will too!

I didn't know what to expect when I was given a copy of the book "Bastard Husband: A Love Story" but the juxtaposed title coaxed me into reading the first few pages. 3 hours later I had finished the book and wanted to learn more about the author and her story. What a fantastic and funny read. I really recommend this book to both men and women as there is so much we all can relate to. Bravo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!, February 22, 2011

This review is from: Bastard Husband: A Love Story (Kindle Edition)
Everything about Bastard Husband: A Love Story is first rate--the pacing, writing skill, humor, and ability to communicate true-to-life emotions of hate, love, anger, compassion, and in-your-face honesty. I couldn't put Linda Lou's book down. The Linda Lou of the book is a complex human being with all the contradictory emotions, attributes and motives that we all have. She is the kind of person you would love to have in your life -- real, honest and funny. Although I was hoping that Linda Lou and Bastard Husband would re-connect, I was satisfied with the ending, which seemed appropriate.

Snappy, full of wit and wisdom and a joyful read. "Bastard Husband" is a very funny and tender account of one woman's journey on the path of love and emancipation. You want to reach out and hug Linda Lou as you travel at her side through a Las Vegas that you never see and encounter people you never would meet. She is a keen observer of life and people but irrepressibly fallible to love. Hooray! Her humor is fresh and sharp, her observations keen. Expletives are not deleted, but they always seem to be appropriate reactions to the human condition. Treat yourself to the book and then check out Linda's blog at: [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolutely terrific read, November 18, 2009
Bastard Husband -- A Love Story is an hysterical, sad, honest, emotionally layered memoir with a strong voice. That makes it sound like a Hallmark film starring Valerie Bertinelli

(you know, that just might work), but the book is NOT sappy nor trite. It's simply a terrific read that I blasted through but want to go back and savor. I'll be looking for more

from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy and Sane at the same time, November 18, 2009
Wonderful read. Comedy and Tragedy side by side. A winner. Linda's spin on life and all its facets is unique and her writing holds nothing back. The lessons are here for men and women alike, since we all enjoy and suffer the same way. Great gift for anyone passing through these trials or about to take the journey through some of life's more challenging hoops. When a friend wanted to borrow my copy, I slapped her hand and said "get your own" - then let her take it anyway...what else are friends for, and Linda is your friend, just let her through your door. She'll make you smile when you really want to cry.
