I bought the Basyx VL882 Leather Office Chair with Wood Accents for my home, because I wanted a desk chair that wouldn't clash with my furnishings. I wanted a wood chair, but solid wood was out of the question, because I need a cushioned seat. This Basyx chair seemed to fit the bill at a reasonable price. The base and arms are a wood veneer. The seat, back, and padded arm rests are a durable black leather. It's a simple and not entirely inelegant chair that is comfortable. It doesn't do anything fancy. The seat goes up and down by 2.5 inches and offers adjustable knee tilt. My chair is "mahogany". It's also available in "cherry". The mahogany stain is redder than the picture, which looks more like dark walnut. It has a definite reddish cast.
The chair's size is medium-scale, neither imposing nor inconspicuous. I am a small person and would like a small chair, but the smaller "task chairs" don't offer enough cushioning. Medium is as good as I could do. There is plenty of room in the VL882. And it is suitable for people who are on the short side, though perhaps not actually short. I am 5'4" tall and can put my feet flat on the ground while seated. In it's lowest position, the top of the seat is 19 inches off the ground. In it's highest position, the top of the seat is 21.5 inches off the ground for you taller folks. The casters and the swivel are smooth. The gas lift works fine. Adjusting the tension for the knee tilt doesn't seem to make much difference. The chair was easy to assemble. I did it without assistance. You don't need to be big or strong. You only need the hex key (Allen wrench) that is provided. They give you extra screws. Instructions are clear. The only advise I have to offer is: Be sure you know exactly where the holes are when you try to attach the arm rests. The holes are partly obscured by the leather of the seat and back. Stick the wrench in there to make sure the hole is clear and you know where it is. It's easy to miss those holes, so the screws turn but won't go anywhere. These are measurements for the Basyx VL882. I have changed some from the manufacturer's specifications, because my chair is a little different: Overall Dimensions 25"D x 25.5"W x 42"H Seat Depth 19" Seat Width 20" Seat Height from floor 19"-21.5" Back Height 25" Back Height measured from seat 22.5" Weight 41 Lbs
