Bat and Bat II were inspirational. Those two albums carried me through college and long nights of studying for finals and writing papers. As for Bat III, it was ok. If Bat III had been my first exposure to Meatloaf I probably would not have become such a fan, it is not nearly as fine as the first two, but like I said, two out of three ain't bad...

I don't even know where to start. I'm a HUGE Meat Loaf fan, and personally never been disappointed in any album hes done. Nothing more needs to be said about how awesome Bat 1 and 2 were or even how awesome other songs like "Couldn't have said it better","I'd lie for you..","Not a Dry eye in the hosue" are (the list goes on and on). Bat out of Hell 3 is just flat out amazing from "the Monsters loose" to "Seize the Night". It also finally brings along the definitive version of "It's all coming back to me" which is a great great ballad. The true gem of this album is Blind as a Bat, which for me ranks right up there with "I'll do anything for love".

Anyone who doesn't think this is a great album or a sub par bat out of hell album is either delusional or doesn't appreciate just how great Meat Loaf is..

My first reaction was that I was disappointed. And this disappointment sort of justified me, being in the dark about the existence of this current CD. I just recently learned about it on Biography channel, when they featured Meatloaf. I own all of Meatloaf CDs, most are rated from okay to great. H-o-w-e-v-e-r, after listening to this CD several times, it finally draws out or stirs up the emotions of the previous 2 Bat of hell cd's. Of the 3 Bat out of hell cd's, this one is third best; and better then Meatloaf's other titled cd's. If you were to own only one of Meatloaf's cds this would not to be the number 1. But if you had a budget for 3 cd's, buying Bat out of hell 1, 2 and 3 would certainly be worth owning.

Desmond Child is my favorite song writer. And he wrote some of the songs here. And he produced one heck of an album! After "Mutt" Lange, you want desmond Child to produce your CD. But he can do the best job in the world, i don't care. True fans will always wonder what "Bat 3" could have been with Jim Steinman producing it and writing it. If you know your history, you know that Meat's best works are with Jim Steinman. And if you hear some of the songs that Mr. Steinman had in mind for this album ("Braver Than We Are", "We're Still The Children We Once Were", "Speaking In Tongues"), you can't help but being sad.

Still, Desmond Child did an excellent album here and it's worth your attention. I even think he's a better producer than Mr. Steinman. But darn it, you still have to cry. Jim Steinman, where are you? Why are you keeping these excellent songs hidden? I hope you're not going mad and that you won't become this strange artist living alone and dying with so many songs unproduced.

In the meanwhile, do yourself a favor and try to find "Braver Than We Are" on the net. Listen to it and tell me you don't want to hear Meat Loaf sing it with Jim Steinman behind the wheel.

Way to go, Desmond. You still did an outstanding job!
