Product Description

Amazon.com Review

In his campaign for accessible, delicious food, Mario Batali is one of the most popular chefs and restaurateurs in the world. Created by Copco and inspired by Batali, the Italian Kitchen line of cookware and tools reflects the famous chef's philosophy that great food needs no gimmicks. Durable, versatile, and high quality, the collection is perfect for the active home chef.

A handy counterpart to the Batali stainless-steel pizza wheel, this handsome version features a polycarbonate blade, so it slices cleanly through crust but goes easy on pans. The handle combines Soft Grip surfacing with substantial length, and the angle of the sturdy head is comfortable in action. Measuring 4 inches in diameter, the blade cuts pizza, calzoni, cheeses, and desserts. For convenience, it cleans up in the dishwasher. --Emily Bedard

Product Description

Mario just loves the beauty and strength of this large oversized pizza wheel. The unique imprints on the wheel make cutting through cheese a breeze and the Polycarbonate wheel is great on non-stick pans. Sound design provides a strong, comfortable weight that requires less pressure from the hand when slicing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great idea that follows bad ones., February 20, 2008
This review is from: Mario Batali The Italian Kitchen Collection Pizza Wheel with Polycarbonate Wheel (Kitchen)
This pizza wheel has a nice, heavy handle and a large blade. Take away one dubious "feature" and add another and it would be close to perfect.

The fact of the matter is that pizza and nonstick should not be in the same sentence. Good pizza, at least, is cooked at very high temperatures, which isn't a good thing for nonstick pans, anyway. Run the plastic blade over the edge of your pan or even the "Mario Batali" folding pizza peel (a very good product from this line) and voila, you have a nick that can not be repaired. Even tossing this in a drawer with metal utensils will quickly damage the cutting edge.

A simple screw would have made this pizza cutter much easier to clean, as well. As it is, the blade is non-removable and you might find yourself spending lots of time trying to clean out cheese, grease, or other unsavory bits.

If you really insisted on being able to cut your pizza on your nonstick pans, this would be the cutter to get, but be ready to buy a new one quickly.

Fantastic design. Great functional concept - nonstick safe. Won't rust. Dishwasher safe. Best of all, it actually works. Worth the dollars as I finally don't use my chef knives for cutting pizza. A gourmet pizza cutter for my gourmet pizzas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for nonstick pans, May 26, 2007

I ordered this polycarbonate wheel after getting sick of transfering my homemade pizzas from the nonstick pan to a cutting board before slicing. It works very well. Sharp enough to cut through the pizza without too much pressure. I am very satisfied with this pizza wheel! My only complaint is that I wished it came in some more color options - orange doesn't exactly match my kitchen, but it works so well it makes up for it.
