Worth a read if you like Bios. Don't look to it for internet money-making secrets,

Since I dabble in affiliate marketing, I picked this up with some Amazon credit I had laying around. Obviously slanted towards affiliate marketers and while he insists it isn't a how-to make money on the internet book, the promotional copy kind of implies that it is.You won't find much in the way of affiliate marketing, so don't expect it. You will however find a good tale of how he went from student painting to riding the dotcom boom and eventual bust and falling in to the lead generation biz. An interesting story that is worth a read. There is some good general business advice in the later chapters that is worth paying attention to. First half of the book was a fast read, but the pace slowed in the later chapters. The writing was rough in some spots, seemed like the author was struggling to turn some anecdotes in to action tips, but it wasn't terrible. I would have liked to read more about some of the other tales he sidesteps, such as the legal issues that kept him on the sidelines for a few moths. All-in-all, a decent read if you like minor biographies. It was also refreshing to see a rather strong affiliate avoid jumping in to the "my revenue is dropping so to make up for it, I will sell you the secrets that used to work" plan.

The Bathrobe Millionaire,
This review is from: The Bathrobe Millionaire: Confessions of an Unemployable Job-Hopper Who Made a Fortune without Work, Risk, or Khakis (Paperback)
A fun and inspiring read! This is not the sensational story of some twenty something internet billionaire. It is the story of how an "every day guy" makes his way to a comfortable life by way of the internet. Many a person today sits dreaming of a life of "freedom". Mr. Yelowitz tells how he created his version of the "New American Dream", financial independence, the new fashioned way; no money, no boss, no employees, no partners, no risk ... no clothes. We intimately get to see how one person finds his way to riches by relying on his life experiences, personal wisdom and a commitment to a lifestyle outside of the mainstream, as I said inspiring.

Great 'read' covering the generic basics of business ownership. For example and as we all know, most businesses fail within first year. So Jason validates new business owners should only invest 'pennies' until you see day light. Then and only then do you invest your 'dollars'. As a fellow online website owner... it was an enjoyable kick-back read all-the-while learning from Jason's mistakes and as well as his successes. This is not a 'get rich' book... nor have I ever found such a book. Look beyond the story line... and benefit & learn from Jason's experiences.

Hi, I bought this book, as I thought it would be interesting to get the author's take on how to be successful in online businesses. Overall, I thought there was some good insight provided, and I enjoyed the stories that Jason told as it related to his day-to-day efforts in building up his business.Overall, I think this was a good book that gave some decent insight as to how this industry works.

If you are looking for explicit step by step instructions on a business in a box, this is not for you. If your are looking for solid advice on how one guy took a business and built it into a multi-milliondollar company that was run from his bedroom, this would be the book for you.I really enjoyed the book. Written well and makes sense. Many of the books similar to this are not worth half the price. I would definitely suggest this book to those considering, affiliate marketing, drop shipping or e-commerce. Good book.

A Window on an Important Moment in Our History,
By Bryan Schwartz (Oakland, Ca, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Bathrobe Millionaire: Confessions of an Unemployable Job-Hopper Who Made a Fortune without Work, Risk, or Khakis (Paperback)
The Wild West of the early days of the Internet are still fresh in our memory, but already, have slipped into history. It was not long ago that Amazon was just a start-up (as the author recalls his first experience with this new Amazon company) - now it is a mega-corporation, a major institution in the business community, and buying books online is mainstream, if not all-encompassing. Our kids and grandkids will marvel that WE WERE THERE when the modern American economy was launched. This book captures that moment in history when no one knew quite what to do with the Internet - we just knew that it was an important new force shaping business, and EVERYONE wanted in. Jason Yelowitz was one of those in the Internet Gold Rush who figured out how to make it work. His stories are not only historically important in documenting the next great American economic age, but entertaining, and peppered with wisdom that might be helpful in any age to anyone starting a business, managing employees, .... I highly recommend this book. I pretty much read it in one night, but I think Mr. Yelowitz's ideas will stick with me for a long time.

I read this book in one afternoon and it gave me a lot of great ideas for testing and measuring in my own business. Great story of how the Internet can be used to test the power of ads and ideas quickly. I highly recommend this book.

Ever dreamed about earning easy passive income? This is a truly inspiring story about how the author was able to build a successful passive income business with little daily effort. This is not your typical late night infomercial either, and is truly insightful into the processes used to build such a business. This is a light and easy read that brings you through the ups and downs of building the business. A must read for anyone looking to start an internet based business.

Be wary,
This review is from: The Bathrobe Millionaire: Confessions of an Unemployable Job-Hopper Who Made a Fortune without Work, Risk, or Khakis (Paperback)
I didn't rate this book very highly at all. The reviews left here are clearly manufactured, they all read like ads to buy it. Just another get rich quick book with no real information as to how to do it. Door stop at best.

The Bathrobe Millionaire - By Jason YelowitzOverall thoughts - a Great, well written book. Lots of great, HONEST advice. The techniques that Jason uses are very innovative and he doesn't hold back. But his advice sprinkled throughout the book is priceless and well worth it. The book is very well written and seems to flow really well. If this is Jason's first attempt at writing a book, he nailed it. The flow from his growing up to the early businesses and then out to the current business is smooth. The chapters reminded me of reading an addicting Steven King book....in that you get the end of a chapter and you figure "hey, I got time to read another chapter".I simply couldn't put it down. The "honesty factor" really rings true. By that I mean, the book really comes across as your best friend explaining a process and lessons learned. I didn't sense or feel any hype factor at all. Thats critical as many people that write stuff now go way overboard. The lessons learned at the end of each chapter are good ones and thought provoking. The book comes across as credible and clearly spells out many of the concepts Jason wanted to share. I never found myself wondering what the heck he meant. Value - its certainly worth the price (I bought the e-book version). I will buy the paperback ( and recommend others do) so I can write notes in it....its a working guide. Although I don't tend to read something and immediately go out and try to repeat that business, I found that in reading, I had many new, creative ideas come to mind as I was going through your book. I think personally this book is something EVERYONE will want to read. Don't assume that the title suggests its easy. What Jason details in the books is very valuable. I would place some of his advice up in the same category as leading author Tim Ferris. I feel that strongly about what Jason has offered up readers. |
