Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 2-4-It's one cliff-hanger after another when Andrew shrinks himself, his cousin, and his robot into specks smaller than dust. Their protection within a bubble is threatened time and again as the dog on whom they landed gets dragged into the bathtub. All kinds of gooey gross things come their way, from mold to spiders to dog doo. Greenburg works a little biology into the adventure, but basically this story relies on panic and slime. The expected ending never arrives; in its place is an announcement that Andrew's adventure continues in the next installment. Palen's black-and-white illustrations underscore the exaggerated sense of alarm. They also demonstrate the threat that the littlest living thing can be to people who have shrunk so completely. Purchase this book if you have fans of the first title or reluctant readers craving more stink and slime.

5.0 out of 5 stars For a nine year old, July 29, 2007

My nine year old has just discovered this series. He absolutely loves them. The series is not only funny and entertaining it also has some good science lessons in them that can be expanded on if you are creative with them.

My 7 year old daughter really likes this 'sciency' series. Andrew is a young inventor who accidentally shrank his cousin Judy, his robot Thudd, and himself. As they try to get back to the shrinking machine before it blows up (sort of a "24" scenario), the kids learn about the macro-microscopic world is like as they encounter hair mites, ants, etc., plus other gross things that only a kid would love to read about (spoiler alert: nose hairs are involved)! My 7 year old is reading at a mid-second grade level, and has no problem with these books. The books have a few pictures, but not quite enough to interest my 4 year old in listening to them yet.

3.0 out of 5 stars Matthew's review, February 16, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: In the Bathroom (Andrew Lost #2) (Paperback)
This book is about Andrew getting lost in the bathroom. It was a little boring because there were no silly parts. There was one part that I liked, when they didn't know how fungus could harm them and turn them into juice. I also learned that bacterium lives in slime cities. I preferred the other books in the series rather than this one. I would sort of recommend book.
