Works well, but smells funky,
By Uschi (NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Batiste Dry Shampoo Original, 5.05 oz (Misc.)
I have tried many of the dry shampoos on the market and think that Batiste is hands-down the best value for the money. It works well on my super-super-oily hair (when I say super, I mean it needs to be washed every 12 hours). After using the product, my hair doesn't look quite as good as when it's freshly washed, but I'm able to skip a day of shampooing and get away with wearing my hair down for most of the day. It also doesn't leave too much residue on my hair or scalp. My only issue is with the smell. I can't adequately describe it other than saying that it's just not pleasant. It's not a bad smell, it just takes some getting used to. Klorane is my favorite line, but it's terribly pricey. Algemarin doesn't work quite as well, but smells better. Bumble & Bumble is an utter sham.

i have tried several dry shampoos and this one is my second favorite (my favorite was made by Samy and has been discontinued). I hated paying big bucks for the name brands (Bumble&Bumble, Keratase, etc.) and was convinced that i could find a cheaper alternative. This dry shampoo costs less than $8 (look around, some places sell it for $5, some for $11...you just have to be savvy about it) and works just as well as the pricey brands.
The best way to use it is to spray through roots while slightly lifting and parting the hair, let it sit in hair for 3-5 minutes (don't worry that it will look gray or powdery in some areas) and then rake fingers thru hair blending it in from roots to tips, lastly, take a bristle brush and comb thru to continue blending any that is left. if you use too much and feel that you can still see powdery areas just keep blending with your fingers or the brush and spray less next time. If you use way too much towel dry your hair with a damp towel.

excellent product,

I looove this stuff!! I have really thick dry hair that i absolutely hate to have to wash every day but because my scalp gets so oily, I have to unless I use this fabulous product. Because my hair is dry (everywhere other than the scalp) I actually like the way my hair looks more with this than actually shampooing it and having it look super dry all over. If you feel like it "builds up" and isn't working, you're probably just spraying too close. Spray from far away, let it settle for a minute or so than brush/comb it through like the directions say. And it really doesn't need THAT much. It actually takes a few min for it to absorb all the oil. I think some of the reviewers who didn't like it probably put too much based on what they are saying. As far as the smell goes, it is really not that bad. My mom actually LIKED the smell. I can't say I like it, but I'm not grossed out by it at all, and besides it goes away almost right away. As far as baby powder vs. this thing..I hate the smell of baby powder so much but sometimes I will sprinkle a little in conjuction with this product and it works GREAT. I can go three days without washing my hair and it looks awesome (And I have really greasy hair.) LOVE IT.

Wow!! No More Greasy Roots!!,
By vivie "VIVI" (Beverly Hills, CA usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Batiste Dry Shampoo 5.05 oz. Tropical (Misc.)
I bought this product recently and was amazed at how well it works. I was one of those women who HAD to wash her hair EVERY DAY!!! My roots would get SOOO oily, but the rest of my hair looked great. I had tried using baby powder before, but the white residue it left behind left me wanting for another alternative. After using this product my hair looked FANTASTIC from roots to ends. My hair is wavy and always tends to look better on the second day, but those greasy roots made it impossible for me to go without washing my hair everyday. Plus, I blow dry to style so I was seriously concerned about frying my hair with every day wash. Now I don't have that problem and thanks to this product I can feel confident going to work with fresh, clean smelling hair.

My hair is bright blue, and I like to keep it that way. But, as many of you know, the more you wash candy-colored hair the more it fades. This stuff is great! It really does work: my hair is fine, straight, and oily by the end of day 2. I put it in on the morning of day 3 and it's like I just stepped out of the salon.
First of all, I followed a previous reviewer's EXCELLENT instructions: 1. spray through roots while slightly lifting and parting the hair, let it sit in hair for 3-5 minutes 2. rake fingers thru hair blending it in from roots to tip 3. take a bristle brush and comb thru to continue blending any that is left To which I will add some of my own tips: 4. Always start out with much less than you think you need. You can always add more later. 5. It will only work once, maybe twice. Then you really will need to wash your hair. 6. The smell is nice (if a tiny bit chemical, at least is isn't repulsively floral or baby powder) but strong. Best to do it at least an hour before you go out, give the smell a little time to fade. 7. Does not mix well with other products. If you intend to use shine or voluminizor, they don't seem to work well with the dry shampoo. I use very few products on my hair and that seems to be the trick to making this stuff work well. I haven't tried any other dry shampoo products yet but I have one in the wings and I will be comparing them once I do. However, I suspect I will stay true to this one because of the smell if nothing else.

In high school, I swam competitively and showered (and washed my hair) daily. At age 16, this is fine, but as you age (and become more busy) it's impossible to wash and dry and straighten (or style) long hair every day.
In college, I began shampooing every other day, and wore a ponytail on the days I didn't shampoo - BLAH! Batiste is great - you shake the can HARD, spray lightly and evenly on the part in your hair and rub into your scalp, then brush out. I will then part my hair again (about 4 times total) all along the top of my head and spray evenly, rub with fingers, and then brush out. The spray absorbs most oil and even adds some body to the roots! It even works well after you sweat at the gym (I recommend lightly and coolly blow-drying your roots, then using Batiste to touch up). No, Batiste is not exactly the same as a real shampoo - you won't get the same results, but 75% is better than the 0 I was getting before! Now, I only have to shampoo every third day, instead of every other day like when I started using Batiste. Most people don't know, but shampooing is a self-defeating premise - the more you shampoo, the quicker your roots become greasy. After a month of using Batiste (for the days in between shampooing), I need less product than I used to, and only shampoo every third day. I've tried baby powder on my roots before - it just makes brown or black hair look gray! The only draw back is the scent is a little strong, but my boyfriend claims it smells almost as good as a fresh shampoo. Batiste is money well spent on the 6+ hours I now have every week!

Nice smell!,

I was hesitant to buy the other 2 versions of this product; I imagined that the Tropical would make my hair smell like pineapple, and a few customers said didn't like the other smell. I am picky with smells, specially anything that goes in my hair - in fact I prefer my hair products to be fragrance-free. Then this Blush version came along, and I gave it a try... The smell is a pleasant floral, nice and not overpowering. It disappears after a little while, and I can only smell it in myself if I intentionally sniff, looking for it. As for how it works, I cannot say much as I haven't compared it to other brands yet (I'm new to dry shampoos), but to me it works fine and I'm happy with the results.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, JUST WISH I HADN'T NEEDED IT,

product was shipped quickly and i was excited to try it...upon my first attempt to use the product, the spray nozzle stuck in the spray position and i had to pull it up to get it to stop spraying...(hmmm, very pleasant scent)...i tried again, with the same result...the third time i tried, the nozzle came completely off and product continued to spray all over my bathroom, completely out of control....i had to hurry and smother the can inside a grocery bag that was in the garbage can...the little bit that i got in my hair (which was dirty at the time) seemed to have made a difference, but it was hard to know for sure...i sent an email to the the seller relaying my experience and asking what they could do for me...i got a very prompt response stating 'sounds like you need a new Batiste right away at no charge!'...my new order came quickly and included a travel size of the same product and a sample of moisturizer, very nice surprise!...this new spray can works fine and i love the product!...i have very oily hair that has to be shampood every day, now i can skip a day now and then with no problem, it makes my hair soft and seems to give it volume which is a welcome surprise...would be a definite 5 star experience had my first can not been faulty, customer service was exceptional! =]

FANTASTIC PRODUCT...WOW!,
By Melissa "Melco Inc." (Atlanta, Ga) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Batiste Dry Shampoo 5.05 oz. Tropical (Misc.)
Ok, let me start off by saying WOW! I just opened my package of this product tonight and I am incredibly impressed. My hair is very long and straight and not very thick, It looks fantastic if I shower and dry my hair, but after the day or night is thru my hair looks limp, and gets very greasy looking very fast, I HATE IT! I have been sick the past few days and I havent taken a shower in 3 days. My hair was pulled up in a sloppy bun and greasy as hell, and I never expected this spray could help, but wanted to see how it worked and whatnot. Let me tell you, MY HAIR LOOKS LIKE I JUST GOT OUT OF THE SHOWER AND SPENT AN HOUR DRYING AND STRAIGHTENING IT! With less than 5 minutes time spent on it. Yes there is a mild residue and its definitely not as good as a real wash, but all things considered, it is pretty damn impressive. I will definitely buy more. Smells great too.
