1.0 out of 5 stars back away from the dvd..., October 24, 2004
This review is from: Batman - The Animated Series - Secrets of the Caped Crusader (DVD)
Ok, once again warner bros. is trying to get a little cash, by once again releasing a 4 episode set, compared to a 28 episode set. I would normally give all Batman DVDs a 5-star review, but this I cannot. This set contains four episodes....get ready for this....that have already been released on dvd in july!!! Sure it was released in a box set, and for only approximately $35.00 Compared to this $15 dollar set for 4 dollars, the box set is a VERY good deal. Appeasing kids for an hour is a good idea but for the pricing just go rent a dvd. Trust me, you'd be much better buying the box set for only 20 dollars more. But in case you're still wanting to get this dvd, it contains 4 eps. They include: a 2 parter w/ catwoman, an ep. w/ mr. freeze, and an ep. w/ an invisible foe. but believe me, the box set is way cooler (price and design and well, everything wise)

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars only for the amazing episodes!, June 24, 2005
This review is from: Batman - The Animated Series - Secrets of the Caped Crusader (DVD)
"Batman - The Animated Series - Secrets of the Caped Crusader" contains episodes 14 to 17. These contain some of the best episodes of the show, where Batman comes across villains such as Mr. Freeze and Catwoman.

The episodes in this DVD are:

14) Heart of Ice - An evildoer is stealing equipment from various GothCorp facilities and using a freezing gun to freeze anyone who comes in his way. Batman uses the clues and discovers the next area where the attacker may appear, and finds out that Mr. Freeze is behind all this. Freeze escapes from Batman, but doesn't plan on killing him since his main intention is revenge on Ferris Boyle, CEO of GothCorp. Batman tries to find out what is the reason for Freeze's doings, to stop him.
This is the first episode to have Mr. Freeze in it, and it is a terrific episode. You really feel sorry for Victor Fries, but at the same time hatred for Mr. Freeze. The way in which Batman tries to capture Freeze is entertaining. (5/5)

15 & 16) The Cat and the Claw Parts I and II - There is a new cat burglar in Gotham, and Batman finds out that it is a woman. The two of them form a relationship, but Batman loses her. Meanwhile, there is a new terrorist in town by the name of Red Claw whom Batman is looking for as well. Red Claw is after a plague that she wants for her mission. Later, Bruce Wayne also falls for Celina Kyle, a wildlife activist who is trying to buy land for a wildlife preserve, but has to fight with MutiGon Corp. (who is planning on building a resort there). Can Batman fight his feelings for Catwoman and Celina Kyle by going after her? Will they be able to stop Red Claw from destroying Gotham?
This is one of my favorite episodes. The chemistry between Bruce Wayne/Batman and Celina Kyle/Catwoman is great to watch. The storyline was very intriguing, where Batman had to face fighting two women. (5/5)

17) See No Evil - This episode starts off with an invisible man walking through the window to see a young girl called Kimberly. The girl refers to him as Mojo, and is happy that he brought her a necklace. However, she is sad that she will not see him again because they are planning to move. Now, the invisible man, Lloyd Ventrix makes sure that his daughter Kimmy is not taken away from him. He steals jewelry from a Jewelry Store (when Bruce Wayne is also present there) and later sells them to make money. Will Batman be able to catch the crook, considering that he can't even see him?
I really liked this episode because we see how Batman faces an enemy whom he cannot see. The way in which he tries to fight Lloyd is very interesting. (5/5).

This was probably the last DVD that WB decided to release separately as a separate 4 episode DVD. Since most of the people are buying the series in its entire volumes, it is rather pointless in buying these separate 4-episode DVDS. However, if you are a huge fan of the show and collect all the merchandise, then you can add this to your collection, otherwise buy the 3 Volumes of the show.

Warner Brothers is finally get on the right track here with Batman the Animated Series. For those of you considering buying this, it is marketed for kids as this DVD contains 4 episodes of the Batman TAS cartoon.

For the die-hard fans, Warner Brothers has released a box set of Batman TAS. It is called Batman The Animated Series volume 1 and it is a fantastic 4-disc set that contains the first 28 episodes. Once again, if you are looking to collect the episodes, go with this boxed set. It runs about $35.

However, if you are simply looking at getting something Batman for your child to view since he is begging for it, this DVD would be nice. It probably runs $10-15 and it gives you 4 episodes of one of the best cartoons ever.

Now, let's hope Warner Bros. follows this pattern and releases boxed sets of Superman, Justice League and Batman Beyond.
