My son loves Batman. I love to get him Batman toys, but I'd been hesitant to get any kind of video due to the hard nature and adult themes in most of what's out there. After previewing a couple of episodes from The Animated Series, my mind was put as ease and I was happy to know that kid-friendly Batman cartoons existed. Like the Dark Knight himself, the presentation is rather dark and may fool parents about its content. It's not bright and colorful and the music score is a bit sinister. But that's Batman. If you decide to get this for you kids, sit with them and watch a couple of episodes. You may find yourself wanting to watch more! There's no killing, no blood, and no strong language. The dialogue leans toward the adult side, but most all cartoons do this as they are created by adults. My child expects to see Batman dispensing of the bad guys and sending them to jail, and that's what he gets. If you're at all hesitant to buy this for you child, watch an episode on Amazon first. I think you'll find it worthy for viewing by ages 6 and up.

Majority of the episodes have the wrong credits in the beginning. The main reason I wanted to watch this was to re-live the feeling I got when I originally watched this show as a kid. The classic "opening bank heist silhouette scene" has been replaced with the less enthusiastic opening credits for "The New Batman & Superman Adventures." The classic "opening bank heist silhouette scene" really sets the tone for a Batman adventure. I prefer to keep Batman and Superman separate.

[[Edited 3/5/2014]] Review incorrectly noted that Arkham Origins was voiced by Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill but meant to say Arkham Asylum. Fixed now.

Dark and defining - this is the series that piqued my interest in Batman when I was young.
Voice acting is stellar, done by the defining greats of Batman - Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill etc. You may recognize their voices from the Arkham video game series (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City).
Fantastic themes and the animation has a unique feel to it that you will appreciate.

The 90's rocked and so did this show!!! So watch it or re-watch it ASAP.

Haven't been thru the whole season yet, and the first episode is actually from the later "Superman & Batman" series, but is otherwise exactly the way I remember : Excellent!

Maybe the best animated series from all time!
A great combination based on Burton's films and comics featuring the greatest DC's hero, The Cape Crusader agains all his enemies. A Bruce Tiim masterpiece!
I bought theses seasons separately becaus the entire series was to expensive, and I do not regret at all!
Great design, all the same extras, same dvds and with spanish audio language also!
If you are a Bat-fan and you want to get the entire collection, start here!

Every once in a while your kids latch onto something that's actually interesting. When I was a kid it was classic "Merrie Melodies." But for my then - 8 year olds, it was "Batman: The Animated Series." The grim, foreboding backgrounds masked the Batman's eternal quest for meaning amidst the chaos he sought to staunch. Watching again brings back not only the rapt attention of my kids but evokes the same focus from my own childhood. It has been said that every kid wants to be Superman (or Green Lantern) but every kid knows, given unlimited resources, they CAN be Batman. The voice characterizations, the stylized animation, the cape, the cowl, the scowl, the dark...watch it with your kids (or grandkids).
