First of all, let me say that Batman Arkham City is a 5/5 game, it's almost flawless and everybody should play it. The GOTY edition contains plenty of content in addition to the base game which is huge.

But the DRM, my god. This product has three copy protection crapware:

Steam:
First, this is a Steam game, you need to activate it there and download it from there, download speeds were good but the game installed itself in my computer language (spanish) and there's no option to make it english but to edit *.ini files:
[...]

Steam kept installing vcredist.exe everytime I launched the game till someday stopped randomly. Also Steam supposedly installs GFWL but I didn't realize it wasn't installed properly until I played the game and realized that it wasn't saving my progress and GFWL was nowhere to be seen

GFWL:
If you want batman to work, you need to completely uninstall the GFWL that Steam installed and download this version:
[...]
Now it finally works.

SecuROM:
This game also has secuROM with 10 limited activations, there is supposedly a revoke activation tool but I have searched the forums and it seems to only work on the regular non-goty edition.

This is a great game but be wary of the crapware that you'll need to install to run it.

First of let me caution make sure you first can download and get working a GamesForWindowsLive account! - I had to create a whole new email address an other carp because had one that was defunct, that took a day to figure out...
You will also NEED a Steam account.... You will also have to make sure some account services on your computer are NOT disabled (for maybe windows defender or user accounts) because its got a nasty SECUROM defense which can create all kinds of errors (Like if you have a Disc Emulator program or even some copy programs in NERO). If you do a search for this game's errors you may find people who purchased than gave up trying to play it - I had ALL of these problems yet......
I saw it as a challenge , I figurerd what would the Worlds Greatest Detective do? And so with my cowl and cape (bandana & Batman beach towel) slipped into the midnight shadows, two days like a clue predator I scanned Google and various games & vid card forums, reaserched arcane Windows operating system behaviors, and waged a grimacing punishing battle with anti pirate software! AND JUSTICE PREVAILS!

Um, also beware this game has a tendancy to uh, take over, it's a major source of time suckage but it auto saves and does a nice recap when you start up so you can quit after each mission and pick back up where needs be.
Also easch mission has the freedom of being solved in your own fashion, if you are quick enough with escapes & gadgets you can go in swinging - stick and move (yet you cant stand up to gunfire very long as health only replenishes after the room is cleared), or you can go into predator mode (killer graphics, like the cellphone scanner mode at the end of The Dark night Movie) and hunt each henchman from up high or low in the shadows until you smack the last guys head into the pavement.
this game isnt easy but it has a great many rewards for your efforts and it also has a great RPG element where you spend expierence points on new gadgets combat moves or suit upgrades. There is also a vast number of trophies to collect a slew of side missions and a plethora of challenges.
The DownLoadContent ads lots of extra life in this GOTY pack so ther is plenty of enetertainment value per dollar here- you wont need to see a movie or read a book for months! (good/bad argument to have with your parents/wife/husband as to why you NEED this game ;)
It may be easier if you have an xbox style controller as some of the boss battles turn into a contorted button fumblethon as you seek for the right gadget to slow the beast down while various thugs are taking shots at you.

So if you have a good clean system with an easy freindship to GFWL and Securom, this game will scratch the itch of most any Adventure/RPG gamer.
See you on the rooftops (or likley the emergency room, I'm clumsy)

This is a great game, like Arkham Asylum this game is fun to play and well optimized for PC, and now with the removal of GFWL and Securom it's even better. You now only need to install Steam to play.

I bought this during the Holiday sales for only $7.50 which is a steal for the GOTY edition. This game runs on Steam so you must be online to play which for me doesn't matter. There is a ton of content in the regular edition and the GOTY just adds to that. If you have a 3 screen set-up, like me, the picture resolution can be set to use all 3 screens at once and looks fantastic. I've got the graphics maxed & the game is visually stunning. Visually it's a big step up from the first game since your able to travel around Gotham.

This game is tremendously fun. The only minor drawback Is that even though its an open world game the environment is not very interactive (like say GTA for example). The game is not a straightforward brawler either. It has an intersting story, fun side missions and excellent graphics. Many of the missions require you to use Batman's skills, strategy and gadgetry, especially if you are playing at normal or hard difficulty. Overall I'd rate this game a 9 out of 10 for people who like action games in general and a perfect 10 for Batman fans like me.

Two items to discuss -

1) As has been said time and time again, this game really does set the standard as to not only what a superhero game should be, but what a third-person-type brawler game should be. It's genre defining. The content is gritty and really quite mature...it's NOT a kid's game, but a fully fleshed story that does justice to the subject matter and never, ever patronizes or condescends to the audience. It's a testament to the game that, even some years after its release, it still holds up.

This iteration features all of the downloadable content, including new skins for Bats, the Harley's Revenge continuation, and various characters for the challenge maps. It's a crazy good deal.

2) I did have some trouble getting the downloaded code to work...after purchase I was informed by Steam that the code was already used. Amazon Customer Support quickly took care of me and deserves much praise.

All in all, a landmark title with a ultra-convenient distribution model. Very good.

This is a great game, however it is not the game that I am reviewing here. More specifically it is Windows Live Game Center, which is the program that is used for save games. I am not able to play this game right now because the save game does not work. I am running on Windows 7, I definitely have the hardware capable of running it, but windows game center is clearly a broken program. Saving games and progressing is the most major component of a single player game. Unfortunately, it is broken in this game. I have looked at several "fixes" and installed and reinstalled and uninstalled, all to no avail; among other things. The only option I am seeing is to uninstall windows which is not something I am willing to do just for the sake of playing $9 game. Thanks a lot Microsoft. Good job with this one. Rock steady needs to stop adding this junk to their games.

It's a pain most likely the key you are going to get won't work, but rest assured just contact Warner Bros and they will give you a working key. Just give them the order info and somethings they will ask and they will give you a working key. Also Amazon rocks!
