I consider myself to be a casual listener when experimenting with alternitive rock or hard heavy metal the only bands I reconize are Panic at The Disco and Coheed and Cambria. I went and bought Batman Arkham City The Album and although it took quite a few listenings I noticed most of the songs most focused on the Joker and Batman other songs were either about the Riddler or Catwoman and even Hugo Strange Within the songs refering to the Joker i heard messages of death and choas Three weeks before the game's released through the music I had begun to ponder about the Joker's possible demise
Thanks to the single by coheed and cambria's Deranged there is a Lyric in there that repeats "Who will be your pretty little enemy when im gone your world will prove empty I promise you will always remember me."
Which makes Deranged one of my favorite songs on the album because I like how lead singer Claudio Sanchez sings from the Joker's point of view he puts on a great performance as he seems to emmulate The Joker's voice leaving you feeling as though hes directly speaking to you through the music the addition of the laughter towards the end of the track is the icing on the cake very cool.Read more ›
It's not all bad. "Mercenary" is probably my favorite track, and in no small part to the Dr. Strange sound bite I'm sure, and "Drown in You" is pretty good too. I am not a fan of Panic at the Disco fan nor a fan of Daughtry, but these are some pretty good songs. So far they are my favorite tracks. "Afterdark" is also another surprisingly good track.
I have to say this, "Deranged" is the most tragically terrible song on the album. Yes, as some people point out, it's one of the few songs on this (sadly) "inspired by" album that lyrically references characters in the story. But the singer of Coheed is just awful, his vocal style is in absolutely no way a correct choice for anything even close to Batman. That's what makes the track so tragic, the lyrics and music are fine, his voice just makes it impossible for me to get through it. If you like that trash, than by all means get it, but I felt a warning was necessary.
"Total Paranoia" is also another very underwhelming track, it sounds as if Serj Tankian is building up to something pretty good and then he just never bothers to go further. It was lazy if nothing else.
"The Years" spends the first half of a song more like a weak intro, it simply does nothing for too long before the music builds up.
There are a few other okay songs and probably at least one other track that was terrible.Read more ›

I ordered this CD for just one of the songs and I honestly only liked a total of two songs on the entire CD.Published on February 21, 2012 by Kaitlyn Manc
