Great blend of two distinct styles,

This review is from: Batman: Arkham City - Original Video Game Score (Audio CD)
I agree with the previously stated sentiments; this score perfectly blends two very different styles from two very iconic musical takes on Batman. The quick and tense force of Zimmer/Howard's Dark Knight score drives the whole thing and is accented by moving seamlessly into occasional sweeping gothic movements reminiscent of Elfman's take on the series (borrowing particularly from Batman Returns). The styles never clash or sound disparate and work surprisingly well together. They also provide a heavy dose of Batman nostalgia while at the same time the score stands uniquely on its own. It really is the best of both worlds and a perfect match for Rocksteady's dark interpretation of the Batman universe.

I'll keep this nice and short. This is a must have for any Batman fan. I like it because it feels like a mixture of Danny Elfman original Batman music and Hanz Zimmer Dark Knight stuff, but it's still stands on it's own.

Batman Arkham City Score Is Epic,

Im a huge Batman fan as I remember watching the animated series which started it all but it wasnt until I discovered Danny Elfman's music for Batman 1989 which again sparked my interest into the musical world of Batman . As for the Nolan series of Batman films I greatly appreciate what Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard have done for the soundtracks of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight a classic in my book .
Now since the release of Arkham Asylum the game has gained overwhelmingly positive reviews due to the delciously atmospheric graphics gameplay and storyline its ashame the score didnt get a realese date but thanks to the buzz surrounding Batman arkham city composers Nick Arundel and Ron Fish were given the oppertunity to release the score . This second outting the music is more mysterious action packed and is a real pleasure to be heard through some good quaility headphones my favorite track is its not even breakfast even when Im not playing the game I can still amagine the Joker's painful and agonizing end to his reign of choas what a way to end a legacy the choir towards the end of the track is just amazing as they sing saddening mournful notes very emotional scene leaving you guessing as to what Batman is feeling what a way to end the game the score plays as if it were intented for a movie . Soundtracks that are based on video games dont get the proper reconition that they deserve its very seldom that game soundtracks get released scores like God Of War Gears Of War 3 Crysis 2 and The Halo Series few soundtracks like these have only seen the light of day with all the hype that surrounds the caped crusader I hope that its enough to finally launch these wonderful composers Nick Arundel And Ron Fish into the film Industry . Hans Zimmer may bring closure to the Nolon Batman Trilogy for good but for future reference I think Nick Arundel and Ron fish should one day score a feature Batman film Batman Arkham City only adds to the aready legendary musical history of its predecessors and is well worth the purchase .
