I've just finished the game and i have to say this is really great!
It really fits in well with the film, using the same actors voices and the characters look very similiar to their real-life counterparts. As well as Batman, you get to play as Bruce Wayne in training before he becomes batman and also as Bruce in a tuxedo in a level which has the Wayne Manor in flames. Very cool. The driving bits are great fun as well, very Burnout, with extra racing modes being unlocked after you beaten those levels. The main gameplay consists of a mixture of combat and stealth. If Batman comes accross a group of heavily armed enemies, he will end up dyingh if he tries to tackle them directly. you need to use stealth to sneak up on them or even beter use your fear-gadgets or a batarang on your surroundings (e.g throw your batarang at a gas-pipe to burst it), to scare them a bit beforehand, making defeating the enemies easier. The game isn't too difficult (though the combat seems to be a lot tougher in Challenging mode) and took me about 9 or 10 hours to beat in Normal mode. The graphics are simply amazing. The levels graphics are some of the best i've seen on a GameCube game and the Batman charcater looks very cool in his bausuit and cape. The game could have had a bit less linear with more ways of solving the situations that you come accross but at least it means you never get stuck for too long. The controls are pretty straight forward, with 2 butons for combat (punch & kick) as well as another button for soing special finishing moves and other buttons for batarang and fear gadgets.

I bought this game for one reason, and one reason alone: I wanted to drive the Batmobile.
I bring home the game, pop it in. I was impressed. Excellent graphics, similar storyline to the movie, featuring all the actors doing voices for their corresponding parts, with snippets of footage from the movie injected here and there. Fair enough. The first level was entertaining, but once the novelty of jumping out of a burning building as Batman wears off, what's left? My major complaint is the lack of free-will the game gives you. In order to get to where you need to be, you have to follow the on-screen instructions. You want to use your Batarang? Nope, not 'til the game tells you to! You want to go fight those criminals? Nope, the game requires you scare them first. You wanna open that door? You damn well better use your fiber optic cable to look behind it first! After playing this game for the first 30 minutes, I grew tired of it. Not feeling like there was much gameplay to be had with it, I spent a few weeks playing it here and there, without much passion. It gets better as it goes along, surprisingly. But the kicker is when, halfway through the game, you unlock the Batmobile! From here on out, I have to say, we have a great game. It takes a while to get to the good stuff, but it's worth it. As you pass each level, you can unlock special features which include Alternate Batsuits, Batmobile missions, the Gallery Of Fear (where you stroll through Arkham Asylum) and plenty of footage from the movie (which would probably be better if the movie isn't already out on DVD, sitting on my shelf). Part of why this game may be getting bad reviews could very well be due to people getting impatient. However, if you do your time with this game, you will be rewarded. It might not be as exciting as other games in your library, but surely, it's one of the better Batgames that I've played in my time.

This game reminds me of Catwoman because of the style of play and fighting. The fighting in this game is really easy. There are only a few moves.
I have gone through many gamecube games looking for the best ones. I am into graphics. I am also into action games. This game is definately better than catwoman and is worth buying especially if you are a fan of batman. His suit looks great and his movements are cool. His voice is pretty scratchy though... he sounds like he just woke up most of the time. I love the bad guys in this game. It seems to have a good story line. The driving part of the game is pretty fun. I loved the graphics in catwoman, but later realized that the replay value of the game was terrible. Batman begins CAN be boring at times but is still fun to play and a fairly addictive. 2115|R2AI11XZXZ1GYF;2115|R3DHZLWBPI0SXC;2115|R3NCWOXFDT5SS3;
