Aren't reviews about the product?,
By
This review is from: Batman Beyond, Seasons 1-3 (DC Comics Classic Collection) (DVD)
Let me preface this with saying that not a single review I read (barring one 5 star review) said anything about the product itself. They discussed the price. Many even voted this amazing series down at 1 star because of the price. Is that REALLY part of a review?
Anyway before I become a hypocrite... Batman Beyond is my childhood. I religiously sat up on Saturday mornings waiting to hear the unique opening soundtrack. I loved this series as a kid and now that I've bought the set I expected it to not live up to my little childhood memories. But guess what? It was even better! Older now I see the social commentary going on the aspects of society that is played upon and the witty banter betwen Terry and Bruce is just as good. And the trademark action you may ask? Still there and still breathtaking to watch. So whether you are an avid fan of Batman, a kid in an adult's body, or even just a parent that doesnt want their kid watching this mindnumming garbage that sits on the wonderful lines and transmission feeds of cable and satelite, pick this up, I doubt you will regret it.

Beyond Cool!,
This review is from: Batman Beyond, Seasons 1-3 (DC Comics Classic Collection) (DVD)
Just when you thought they couldn't improve on what they were doing on BTAS, along comes Batman Beyond! This one was my particular favorite of the Warner Batman shows, though all of them (excluding the current "The Batman) were exceptional. Beyond was even darker, grittier and more exciting, with one of the coolest soundtracks of any animated show. And this years before The Matrix showed audiences how much better Kung-Fu is with a techno/rock soundtrack! The first season is a particular stand out, focusing on being the new Batman, the villains and bringing Bruce Wayne's company back under his control. Beyond villains are truly groundbreaking, nothing like the originals. My favorites would have to be Inque and Currare, their episodes are some the most exciting of them all. Season 2 tends to focus more on high-school life and teen angst, though there is still a lot of action and new villains showing up. This is the longest season and does get a little bogged down, but still well worth it. The third season definitely revs back up again(they knew it was the last season and wanted to go out with a bang!) The 2-part episode where Batman is invited to join the JLA of the future is a real stand out. Considering the only place you are likely to see this series again is on ToonDisney, where it will be hacked to bits(like BTAS and Superman) this is the only way you are going to see it the way it needs to be seen!

Let me start by saying, most animated shows these days are garbage. They lack the depth that these old DC shows had.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Young Justice has some potential. But the majority of today's shows are mindless and way too little kid-oriented. Now, that being said, when I bought Batman Beyond Seasons 1-3, it was a breath of fresh air. I hadn't seen the show since I was a kid, and I was amazed by how dark and gritty it was (very much like the old Batman: TAS). Terry McGinnis is a high-schooler (spoiler alert) who, after his father is murdered, takes on the mantle of the bat. What begins as revenge eventually turns into redemption (Terry was once in Juvenile Hall), and finally, Terry realizes that it's his destiny to be the dark knight. It's like he says during the series pilot, "I... AM... Batman!" I'm a huge fan of Kevin Conroy, and he does an excellent job as an aging and very cranky Bruce Wayne. And Will Friedle does a fantastic job as Terry, perfectly capturing the sound of an angsty teenager with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Here's what you need to do: Buy Batman Beyond, Seasons 1-3 (DC Comics Classic Collection), and when you absolutely love it, check out Batman: The Animated Series, Vol. 1. You will not regret it.

The Greatest Batman Ever?,
This review is from: Batman Beyond, Seasons 1-3 (DC Comics Classic Collection) (DVD)
I know it may be sacrilege, but I think Batman beyond is my favorite Batman. I completely love all the other Batman cartoons, with the possible exception of the Batman which I never got to watch much.
The story follows a troubled teen whose father is killed after Bruce Wayne has retired as Batman. I won't spoil anything for you, but the kid falls in with Bruce Wayne and eventually becomes the new Batman. I like it because it's sort of takes the best bits of Spiderman, a kid without a whole lot of money and with his own problems, and flawlessly merges it with the financial backing of Bruce Wayne and thus explains how he has all the gadgets. The new Batman suit is just simply awesome, though purists may not be happy because it has more features like a jet pack and invisibility than your traditional Batman costume. In essence the whole suit is the utility belt. There are a handful of characters brought over from the old Batman series, but since this one takes place a good distance in the future they could only bring characters they could explain. For example, in one episode Mr. freeze is brought back but that's explained by his slow metabolism making him virtually immortal. The Joker also makes a return, in an unexpected way, but that isn't actually in the series that's the return of the Joker movie which I'd also recommend. The new villains they created for the series were pretty good. My only regret is they got only about three seasons to show them off. I heard that the show was canceled because they needed the animators for the Justice league series, which ran for about four years including the two seasons of Justice league Unlimited. Whenever reviewing a cartoon series, I was like to add a comment about the females in the show. Perverted or not, a lot of people are interested in cartoon girls. Anyway, with Batman beyond the animation makes the women look a little scrawny. Legs and bodies are a little too angular and not all that attractive. The same is true for the men I guess, but I don't swing that way so I can't say for sure. That's all, just if expecting the women to look like they do in the other Batman series you'll be disappointed. Do yourself a favor, if you enjoy Batman at all give the series a try. Even if you don't agree with me that it's the best, it's easily a great cartoon series in its own right.

This is a great series that I am happy to now own. I loved the behind the scenes features that came with this series. It gives a more in depth look of what transpired during the series.
The problem that I found with this series was that I believe they cut some episodes out. I remember when the series was on television, and there was an episode with Victor Freeze. When watching the series, there was no episode that had him in it. I was disappointed, because I know that this episode was aired. Overall I would say this is worth buying, but the loss of at least one episode is a little disappointing.
