This review is from: Batman: Dark Allegiances (Comic)
Chaykin takes the Elseworlds notion and runs with it. If you liked his work on the Shadow or Blackhawk, I can't imagine you wouldn't enjoy this. If you haven't a clue what those last two sentences mean, well there is still plenty to enjoy here. Set in an imaginary nineteen thirtiea, Batman is reinvented as a self made millionaire liberal whose designs are coverted by Nazi sympathisers. Many familiar Batmen characters appear in unfamiliar guises. Adolf Hitler himself turns up late in the piece and the final confrontation, involving Batman, Joker, Hitler and Roosevelt is, quite frankly, morally perverse in a delightful way. Chaykin's art is fantastic. It's a great little book. It's fun.
