Bruce Canwell is a writer and editor whose work has appeared in newspapers, magazines, comics, on-line, and in books. He is currently associate editor and lead writer for IDW Publishing's Library of American Comics imprint, which has earned multiple Eisner and Harvey Award nominations since its first release in 2007 and won Eisners in 2008, 2010, and 2011. Bruce resides in the greater Boston area and is often at Fenway Park or TD Bank Garden during Red Sox and Celtics seasons. His home is filled with books, books, and more books -- and strangely enough, he wishes he had even more time to devote to reading.

After going through Batman's rigorous training, Dick Grayson, the first Robin, is ready to partner Batman in the fight to eradicate crime in Gotham City. But in order to do so, he has to pass his final test: to elude Batman from sunset till sunrise. Things take a turn for the worse when Robin unknowingly stumbles onto something which may cost him his life. Now Batman must race against time to find Robin before it is too late. This is one of the best stories I have ever read. If my memory is right, this is the first Bat book I bought (by the way, I am not a Batman fan). Definitely worth buying.

This story takes place right before the first Robin (Richard Grayson) starts working steadily with the Batman. It gives us a good insight on his thought process and we can see some of his innocence when going through the test.

I like the art, which conveys the story very well visually and it had a good ending that shows hope for the future.

I would reccommend this story to all fans of Robin and Nightwing, since he was the original Robin.

The story takes place while Dick Grayson ward of Bruce Wayne, still in training before he took to the streets of Gotham as Batman crime fighting partner.

Batman comes to a dead end when trying to take down a drug cartel, and Dick suggests perhaps it time for Robin to assist Batman?

Before the young Robin can graduate to full partner he must pass his final exam first, a game of Manhunt being pursued by the Dark Knight.

Robin must avoid being caught for 24 hours, while remaining in city limits, not seeking the assistance of others, and staying in costume at all times.

Sounds easy enough? until our young crime fighter comes across a man being brutally assaulted. Quickly Robin dashes into action saving the man,

but unknowingly becomes target of the same drug lords Batman has been trying to take down!

Now our young hero must avoid the pursuit of Gotham's underworld while trying to pass his initiation of becoming Robin.

The story has a refreshing feel of the classic days of the Dynamic Duo, and the art is very reminiscent of Batman Year One.

Dick brings a well humored lightness to the character of Robin, and we get to see his natural acrobatic abilities performed with ease.

I for one particularly enjoyed this story very much as i am a huge fan of the Original Batman & Robin

and would highly recommend this as a welcome addition to any Bat collection.
