Worth a 1-night rental, nothing more,

This review is from: Batman: Gotham City Racer (Video Game)
A game couldn't get much worse than this. The controls are very shaky and I received this game as a gift after requesting it to a friend of mine. I enjoyed it the first few days, but my friend soon told me this game was horrible after trying it. The Story mode is pointless, going through Gotham stopping robberies, chasing villains without being spotted ("stealth" missions as I call them) and just plain chasing villains. Other boring levels include driving through Gotham. If you accidentally or intentionally bump into a normal car you get pushed back quite a few feet back in the game.In Patrol mode, you can either choose a hero or villain and rob places in the selected zone of Gotham (banks, buildings, etc.) or as a hero patrol the area until a robbery is reported. You must stop the robber, a villain such as the Joker or Poison Ivy, and apprehend them. However the selection of heroes and villains is both very good; except in 2 Player Mode you can only choose a hero vs. a villain and no other "mode". You can't have, like, Mr. Freeze against The Joker. Now that would be kinda cool. The music is very annoying in this game and the graphics really ...[stunk]. As stated before the control is horrible. 2 player mode is awful, and another fault in Story mode is that you drive around Gotham seemingly endless hours searching for the spot you have to get to signified by a red dot on the map. And once you become near it your time limit runs out. And you can't get the time limit off. Yellow maps indicate closed-off roads, which is very annoying. With better graphics and more options (like when you arrive at the designated map spot, you actually get to control your guy/gal inside the building/area and fight it out) this game would be a lot better. It is a worth a one-night rental, nothing more, for this game is awful. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the game has all the characters you really need and clips from the new cartoon throughout Story mode.

Don't waste your money,

I was considering buying this game for my six year old son, who loves Batman. We decided to rent it first, to make sure he would like it. This turned out to be a wise move. It is VERY difficult to control, even on the easy mode. My son was having such a hard time with it, that I decided to try it myself. I, too, became very frustrated with it. I would not recommend this game for a young child. If you are thinking about this one, do yourself a favor and rent it first.

This was one of my various collections to the Batman video games. This one involved cars and such. There was some fun hunting down the bad guy and capturing him, if you are not a fan of racing video games then this game is not for you. There are some cut scenes to the last Batman the Animated series which are a joy to watch, but does not have a high replay value. Get it for less then retail value so you will not feel cheated.
