Worth a 1-night rental, nothing more,

A game couldn't get much worse than this. The controls are very shaky and I received this game as a gift after requesting it to a friend of mine. I enjoyed it the first few days, but my friend soon told me this game was horrible after trying it. The Story mode is pointless, going through Gotham stopping robberies, chasing villains without being spotted ("stealth" missions as I call them) and just plain chasing villains. Other boring levels include driving through Gotham. If you accidentally or intentionally bump into a normal car you get pushed back quite a few feet back in the game.In Patrol mode, you can either choose a hero or villain and rob places in the selected zone of Gotham (banks, buildings, etc.) or as a hero patrol the area until a robbery is reported. You must stop the robber, a villain such as the Joker or Poison Ivy, and apprehend them. However the selection of heroes and villains is both very good; except in 2 Player Mode you can only choose a hero vs. a villain and no other "mode". You can't have, like, Mr. Freeze against The Joker. Now that would be kinda cool. The music is very annoying in this game and the graphics really ...[stunk]. As stated before the control is horrible. 2 player mode is awful, and another fault in Story mode is that you drive around Gotham seemingly endless hours searching for the spot you have to get to signified by a red dot on the map. And once you become near it your time limit runs out. And you can't get the time limit off. Yellow maps indicate closed-off roads, which is very annoying. With better graphics and more options (like when you arrive at the designated map spot, you actually get to control your guy/gal inside the building/area and fight it out) this game would be a lot better. It is a worth a one-night rental, nothing more, for this game is awful. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the game has all the characters you really need and clips from the new cartoon throughout Story mode.

I was considering buying this game for my six year old son, who loves Batman. We decided to rent it first, to make sure he would like it. This turned out to be a wise move. It is VERY difficult to control, even on the easy mode. My son was having such a hard time with it, that I decided to try it myself. I, too, became very frustrated with it. I would not recommend this game for a young child. If you are thinking about this one, do yourself a favor and rent it first.

This was one of my various collections to the Batman video games. This one involved cars and such. There was some fun hunting down the bad guy and capturing him, if you are not a fan of racing video games then this game is not for you. There are some cut scenes to the last Batman the Animated series which are a joy to watch, but does not have a high replay value. Get it for less then retail value so you will not feel cheated.

... I thought this game was pretty good for playstation. Some cool artwork, and a decent job of converting the animated world into 3D. Not alot of polish but still alright.

This is a fun game - it's a simple arcade racer where you can chase the various villains from the Batman Animated Series, including Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and the Joker. I found it to be an enjoyable game, and the use of cut scenes from the actual show made the game even more enjoyable to me. If you like Batman, and like the art deco look of the show, you will love this game.

It's amazing, how people can hate the game, but love DRIVER 2. I mean, that game is nothing like the first one (the better of the two). BATMAN: GOTHAM CITY RACER is basically the same type of game. Batman is better and cooler, not to mention has better villians, weapons and cars. Come on people....!!!

Some may say that Batman Arkham Asylum is the best bat-video game in recent history, but no, it is not. AA has Harley Quin, thus, it is the worst Batman game ever. As is it's sequel and the sequels that will follow.
Now on to the game that matters, Batman: Gotham City Race : I believe that Grant Morrison's run of Batman and Batman and Robin was inspired by Gotham City Racer : You run around as Batman, steal cars, meet escorts, punch villians (heroes if you choose a villian character) -- It plays similar to Grand Theft Auto IV but in Arkham City. The online multi-player allows up to 80 players on a single match. I believe this is the first PSN game to allow that many players in one game. The one con I can recall from playing this game's 100+ hour single player is that Harley Quinn is featured in ONE cutscene (taken straight from the animated series). The solution here is to mute your television and to simply straight away from the screen. I hear the Batman Inc. / Leviathan DLC characters comes out in just a few weeks. Definitively a game to pick up. |
