By now, this comicbook is a byword in comics legend as it led to the rebirth of the comics industry (together with the Watchmen). On first picking up the book, the ugly drawings are quite off-putting. However, Miller uses cinematic technique of interspersing between events, making especially good use of news coverage in illustrative panels to drive the narrative. He has recast Batman as an ageing superhero who can still upstage Superman at every turn. The interplay between the two is subtly done and to perfection.
When I first read this, I was undecided whether it was the best or worst comic that I had ever read. Time and continuous re-reading have obviously clarified this as a masterpiece for me.

This book was delivered promptly and was in good condition, however, it was priced rather high. I made the mistake of purchasing it without checking the appraisal value. I later found the entire four-book set in near mint for the same price as this 1 book which was only in "good condition". Don't be hasty, shop around before you buy.
