4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Batman Novel
I enjoyed this book much more than expected. The well-crafted, complicated (grown-up) plot and dead-on character development made The Batman Murders a novel I could not put down. Even more than some Batman graphic novels, the Dark Night, Nightwing, Commissioner Gordon, and a host of secondary characters were brought to life vividly.

The story is about men...

A competent Batman novel. The book is set a few weeks after A Death In The Family. Confused people dressed up as Batmen are set up to be murdered, and Batman investigates.

He is still having a lot of problems because of the death of Jason Todd. When a cult recruiting young people swallows up a police officer sent undercover, Batman asks Nightwing for a hand...

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Batman Novel, October 17, 2006
This review is from: The Batman Murders (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book much more than expected. The well-crafted, complicated (grown-up) plot and dead-on character development made The Batman Murders a novel I could not put down. Even more than some Batman graphic novels, the Dark Night, Nightwing, Commissioner Gordon, and a host of secondary characters were brought to life vividly.

The story is about men who turn up dead at crime scenes dressed in Batman costumes. As the police and Batman try to figure this out, a church called The Church of Perpetual Happiness has appeared in Gotham. This cult-like church has already claimed one undercover officer. Batman asks Dick Grayson to go in. Having a strained relationship with his former mentor, who has just lost his second Robin to being blown up by the Joker, Dick is truly torn whether to help. Batman wants to assist Gordon in all these matters, yet is walking the fine line between working within and outside of the law.

A great story, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very cool book., December 11, 1999

Batman is very overworked in this book. The Joker has a scheme as always. And, as always, Batman is involved. If it weren't for Batman, the Joker would get bored. It occurs to him, well, what about when I finally do kill off Batman? What then? So, he creates his own Batman, and then another. All with the help of a doctor with some brainwashing skills....

It's a great book, with many subplots. BUT, they all come together in the end...

Wow, score one for the good guys. This can go down as another fantastic batman novel. Gardner does a fantastic job bringing the conflict of the characters to life. He was able to show the conflict that batman had after jason todd's death and the jokers insanity.

I would recommend this great novel to any batman fan or a reader looking for a story with deep character induced conflicts.

PARTY ON, DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I"M BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is still having a lot of problems because of the death of Jason Todd. When a cult recruiting young people swallows up a police officer sent undercover, Batman asks Nightwing for a hand. Nightwing goes undercover, and encounters a few problems of his own.

The cult leader is a used car salesman recruited by The Joker, who is up to his usual psychotic shenanigans.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised..., July 19, 2000

Normally I only read large books with complex plots. Occasionally I take a break and read something...well, lighter. This was a quick, fun read. I enjoyed the story and while it was fairly predictable it was never disappointing. If you can find this book, it is a fun read...
