1 of 1 people found the following review helpful By Cory Howard on May 5, 2013
Although he's one of the lesser known Batman baddies (although that's likely to change when Arkham Origins comes out), Black Mask (Roman Sionis) is my favorite villain out of all the psychos Batman's ever banged heads with. Although no where near as iconic or colorful as the likes of Joker, Two-Face and such; Black Mask is no less demented and psychotic, maybe even more so. Not content to simply murder his enemies but preferring to maim and torture them first (in pretty horrific ways), Black Mask is something like a cross between Al Capone and Hannibal Lecter; if that tells those of you unfamiliar with him anything. As for the figure itself, I've had my eye on it for years but was unwilling to pay such a hefty price tag for an obscure character, especially since I don't actively collect Batman stuff and just "cherry pick" select items from time to time. However I finally broke down and forked over some cash for him, and I'm glad I did. First of all, the figure is nicer than I expected, even though the online photos show off his detail very well. I was impressed with his headsculpt as well as all the detail put into his ruffled, wrinkled dress shirt. Sporting twelve PoA, this was a nice surprise as I initially thought his legs were not articulated and lacked the joints in the elbows; but this was not the case. Black Mask comes with four accessories including a simple but detailed base, a hardhat, power drill and saw (it's too bad the tools weren't blood-splattered as they are very comic-specific, but this is DC Direct we're talking about; not McFarlane Toys). His package is standard blister card and bubble, but the cardback includes a brief bio and shows off the other figures in the line (Mr. Freeze, Penguin, Killer Croc and Man-Bat). All in all, since DC Direct's Black Mask is the only Batman figure I've bought since Mattel's Movie Masters Joker, I'm very pleased with it and may just pick up the other figures in the series as well.
