5.0 out of 5 stars Batman 12" figure...WOW!!, January 19, 2004

This figure is simply beautiful. It looks great sitting on a shelf and it's a great toy for young Batman fans to play with. The only way they could make this toy better is to have additional characters from the world of Batman to go along with it. Superman would look great in this form. And, of course, you need some villians. Joker, Riddler, Two Face, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze! They all would be perfect! However, it's only Batman who comes in the 12" size for now, so you'll have to use your imagination. One drawback for this figure is when he bends his leg at the hip, it causes the pockets in his utility belt to open when you don't want them to. Other than that, there is NOTHING to complain about. Go ahead and buy five of them. Maybe the strong demand will persuade Mattel to continue this type of action figure.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really, really great version of Batman, July 27, 2004

Ok, I'll admit it - I bought this toy for me. It now sits immediately to the right of my monitor at work, with Batman crouched, a Batarang in his left hand, and the 'speargun' in the right (with the Batrope tied around it), ready to be lauched out into space.

This is far and away the best, most accurage rendering I've ever seen of Batman as a toy - really great stuff. The 'rubber'-like hands being able to grasp & hold is beyond cool.

All that being said, there are things that need fixing: the coloring of the main costume (the bodysuit itself) is not quite right, and far too shiny (I understand that new versions of this toy are on the way with different coloring).

The figure could make do with a lot more articulation that it has: the hands grasp, and you can turn his wrists (plus neck, waist, hips and knees), but he's got no elbows! God sakes, Batman is an acrobat folks (among other things) - can't anyone build a toy of him that can move well (as an example, what they've done with the new 18 inch tall Spiderman toy)?

The cloth cape is well done - the A/C in our building makes it move in the breeze, exactly as it should. :)

Finally, the utility belt is fairly well done, although the compartments that open aren't as sturdy as they should be. I'd also have preferred if they had put places on the belt to hook all his various accessories, like above mentioned Batarang, the handcuffs, etc.

All-in-all however, a really great toy. I'd keep the little bits aside if I gave it to a young child (and would definitely worry about the belt compartments coming off), but still incredibly cool.

Just hoping now they come up with others in the same size (i.e. Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, etc.)!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Darkknight is THE DARKKNIGHT!!, October 3, 2003

It is about time that someone comes out with an accurate depiction of Batman The Darkknight himself. This is not your fathers Batman!
This is the real Darkknight, and it shows just by looking at him.
This goes in line with any comic book fan, a good example of Frank Millers The Darkknight Returns, not as old of course, but never the less, this is the true depiction of what The Darkknight is all about! Here Here Mattel, I give a 4 1/2 star batarang rating on this one! (The utility pouches do not open as far as shown, and can be cracked, so be careful, don't force it). The batcape also doesn't spread out as shown,it's sewn to his costume above his shoulders, so it takes some creativity to get it to stay if you like the full batwing look.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very ULTIMATE Batman, August 18, 2004

Fantastic figure! A wonderful collectible, or just plain fun for kids. Wonderful sculpting makes this a great display piece, and the huge Batbase is a great touch. The accessories are a little flimsy, but for display purposes, they're just fine. Mattel did a great job with this one!

This is a Batman designed by a group called the Four Horseman especially for Mattel. It is the best looking Bats out there. It is a big version of Mattel's "zip line" Batman. This one has a retrctable cable or "zip line" for quick get aways. Several others should be forthcoming, including Robin, Joker & more Batman looks in special outfits, including the 70's Silver Age Batman with a blue cape and yellow circle bat emblem. Very durable. Cape is a combo of molded plastic at top and fabric at the bottom. Just buy it!

There's only one thing I can say about this Batman figure; AWESOME!! Mattel has done a wonderful job with this figure, except for the cape is fixed more to being behind his back than being detachable to set as one pleases. I'm going to try and cut some fabric to make him various capes so he can stay in some of his coolest poses that require the cape spread of course. That qualm of mine is not worth downgrading the 5 star rating I give it however. Durability is given 3 stars because of the frailty of the utility belt; like stated in the other reviews please be careful with it. If you are a fan, GET IT,what are you waiting for?!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value, May 13, 2007

Bought this for my 5 year old son. I searched the internet a lot for a 12" size to match his Superman, Spiderman, Buzz Lightyear & Power Ranger :>). Weren't too many choices in this size range and I thought it looked the most realistic to the most recent Batman in the movies. Also there was a good review that helped convinced me to buy this one. Hope this review will do the same for somebody else. This item is worth the price. It is well made, comes with a nice stand and optional weapons.
