Boogie oogie oogie,

All night long the bats get down on American Batstand and at each hour the bats take up a different dance as Click Dark, their host, introduces a new tune. Children will love the sotry and feel absolutely brilliant once they've discovered that they can use this story to learn to tell time or help reinforce what they already know all on their own.

While not exactly a "learn to tell time book", this adorable book teaches clock/time recognition along with bat acceptance. Excellent art and rhyme make it a must for bat fans of all ages.

A lot of Ifs,

The story is enjoyable but subjects may not be known to child or parent. It will be helpful if either knows who Dick Clark and American Bandstand are? Then might possibly know of some of the dances, some of which predate American Bandstand. If there is some recognition it does seem likely the story will create interest or association in learning to understand time pieces and or time. The one dance, The Hokey Pokey, that might still be recognizable to a small child does not seem to have an apparent tie-in to time? Although of no significance a person learns virtually nothing about bats. Bats are being wiped out which is allowing unchecked insect population. Recommended as enjoyable.
