I routinely recommend this toy over the MagnaDoodle to the parents of my clients. It performs better; I think the previous reviewer must have had a lemon because of the many I've owned so far in my career, I've had no problems. It erases much more completely than MagnaDoodle and sliding the mechanical lever down and hearing the gears grind as it rises back up is always riveting to the kids. This is one of my all-time best toys that I use in my practice nearly every day. As with all magnetic boards, it doesn't do so well if you don't leave writings on it for extended periods of time. As long as it's erased when it's going to sit for a while, it's really quite durable! Top-notch.

My daughter is ten now, and has finally worn this sketchpad out after years of nearly daily use. I'm disappointed it is no longer available.

This is a horrible design. In order to erase the board, I have to move the mechanism and press down on the actual screen in order to get everything erased. I would not recommend. Find another brand. I keep meaning to write the manufacturer to complain about this product. My son does still enjoy it despite it's flaws, but if I had seen it in person first, I would not have purchased it.
