I purchased this item as a stock part for future use on electronics and robotics projects. However, it was pressed into service early on to illuminate an automotive turn signal bulb as dramatic back lighting for a table top photo shoot of a large light bulb that I shot for exhibition on two photo Websites that I display images on. An ideal and compact 12 VDC power source for any such project.

I put batteries in it. It powered up stuff that needed power just fine. It didn't cure cancer or balance the deficit, but those would be six-star features, so I'll go ahead and give it five.

Just picked up 2 of these for a project I'm working on and so far are working great.

You can get the exact same battery holder at RadioShack for 3 dollars ( http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062242 ), so i would go with that if this is what you need.

This battery holder is so useful for projects requiring 12 volt power. I used it at Burning Man to power my animated EL wire sign.

This is a fat version of what you can buy at radio shack.
Depending on your deployment of the power pack you could utilized this square design or the elongated rectangle from radio shack. Both work.
