I think they look ridiculous.....

They don't turn off automatically during the night, but at daylight, so they use more battery than my other kind.

The flicker is exactly what you would expect a candle to look like.

--White LED Battery Operated Window Candle--

PROS: of all the window candles I've seen, this has the best looking design--it's simple and small in design, and despite its obvious plastic material, it looks respectable and nonpretentious.

CONS: beware--the candle can ONLY flicker, it has no function to remain on in a solid mode. It's too bad--everything else about this window candle is great. The problem is that the flicker--despite its good try at simulating a real flame--ultimately looks fake. Our technology is just not there yet when it comes to realistically simulating a candle flame. If you're going for a lighthearted, "fun" look in your windows--okay, these might do for looks. But if your hope is to add a regal touch to your windows, the flicker on these drops the respectability factor down a few notches; these are for the Griswalds, not Martha Stewart.

Invention needed: it is impossible to find nice looking battery-operated window candles with a solid LED light.

I must have spent 2 weeks looking at all these options and reading reviews. And yes, I got confused. By the time I had narrowed down my choices, I kept returning to this product. I live in a rather small home with some rather cold rooms. As such, during the long winter months, I keep the shades and drapes drawn to keep the cold out and heat in so these candles were actually the perfect choice for me. Battery operated and, until the batteries are inserted, they weigh practically nothing. And they will be behind my shades and drapes so unless I walk outside in several feet of snow, I won't see them anyway but I'm hoping they lend a bit of holiday cheer to those driving by my humble home this holiday season.

The pros and cons already mentioned in previous reviews hold true. The 'flicker' or 'off' are the only options. There is no 'steady on'. One inserts the batteries, aims the sensor out the window, flips the switch to the 'up' position and the candle does the rest all on its own at dusk and dawn. Last night was our first night with these in the windows. They turned themselves on around 4pm (Massachusetts/EST) and it is 746am this morning and they just turned themselves off as it is getting lighter already.

Now, I don't entertain (house is much too small) and I'm not trying to impress anyone. I just like candles in the windows during the holiday season, especially this year with 3 nephews serving in Afghanistan. Besides, I live in a town that loses power whenever someone sneezes so I thought these might help with that situation as well when needed.

I got the warm white just last week, and today they are no longer offered. However, they aren't 'warm' at all: they are a bright white. Like an exposed light bulb before you put the lamp shade back on.

I like these candles in that they are inexpensive and attractive.

However, I was hoping for a candle that did not flicker all the time. The product says it flickers, but I assumed it would also stay idle. I had 'tunnel-vision' looking for candles that had a dusk to dawn sensor and these had it, so I went for it and it did not sink in that 'flicker' is all ya get. Not a problem until...
I put all the candles in the windows...LOL...it looks like a HAUNTED HOUSE! My hubby and I got a big kick out of that! So, we'll keep the candles - (we didn't waste our money! We're already planning for their use next year...for Halloween!)

If you're looking for a warm, inviting look with window candles these AIN'T IT! But, they would be nice to get the look inside of your home of A LOT of candles burning together...and most definitley for a HALLOWEEN effect!

Now, my SEARCH continues without having to take out a second mortgage - this is NOT a cheap decoration when you have 18 windows!

Like many here, I was more interested in a constant light rather than flickering, but this late in the season there were none left. After much research I purchased these candles, and am very happy with them. All are working perfectly. The light is a soft white (didn't like the previous amber ones I had at all as they looked very fake and didn't match the white lighting I had on everything else). The flicker is not distracting at all. I was afraid it would be more of a "blinking" but it's not. It's as close to the actions of a real candle flame as it can get for a battery powered candle. They all go on within minutes of each other at dusk and go off at dawn, exactly as described. The candles I previously had were 8 hours on and 16 hours off, but weren't reliable and had to be reset constantly. I love the dusk until dawn feature. There is also an off switch which is very handy and much easier than having to unscrew the top "flame" piece from the candle stick should you want to turn them off for any reason. I can't speak to battery life (3 in each candle) as I've only had them for a week, but no electric cords to deal with and the white vs amber is well worth the battery purchase. As someone else mentioned, these would also be perfect if winter weather caused a power outage as they make great night lights in each room, giving off just enough light to find your way around if need be. And even though the bases are plastic, the pewter look is much more realistic and attractive rather than the brass, which tends to look very cheap. The size is also a plus here. They are no deeper than the round bases, but are wider which gives the candles much more stability. I could not be happier with this purchase, and unless you are dead set against anything but a solid light, you'll love these!
