Review

Review of first edition:
Elektor Electronics: 'Until Battery Reference Book became available... I and many of my colleagues had nothing to refer to but the manufacturers' data sheets.'

Review of the second edition:
Elektor Electronics: 'Battery Reference Book should prove a godsend for designers of all types of battery-operated equipment, battery manufacturers, and electrical and electronic engineers and technicians who use batteries in their work. It should also prove useful to research organizations.'

"Battery Reference Book... is probably the most comprehensive battery reference book you'll find... This is a one-of-a-kind book... Clearly written with a slightly English tone, batteryists everywhere should include it in the technical library. Highly recommended."
Jim Hansen

2.0 out of 5 stars A Disappointment, December 15, 2000
By
Bill Baker (Denver, Colorado United States) - See all my reviews
I needed a complete, up to date battery reference book. With a publishing date in 2000 and a hefty price tag, I thought The Battery Reference Book by T.R. Crompton would be just the ticket but I was wrong.

I admit that there is a lot of information in this book about yesterday's battery technology but look for modern Lithium Ion and Lithium Polymer and you wont find it. Since I can't find this information I worry that other, emerging technologies are coming, and I won't find out about them in this book either.

I have to blame myself for making the mistake of buying this book. I should have researched more. If you are looking for a battery book that includes Lithium Ion and Lithium polymer, skip this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Applicability of Battery reference book to mobile phones, December 11, 2000
By A Customer
Good overview of battery chemistry and types. However very little up-to-date info on NiMH and lithium ion batteries.
