Editorial Reviews

Video Librarian, September-October, 1999

"Featuring professional baseball players Doug O'Neill and Dan Cholowsky, this instructional video guides viewers through the basics of hitting. The players teach fundamentals in a direct, no-nonsense manner, demonstrating everything from the physical components of hitting (proper grip, stance, etc.) to the mental aspects of the game (clear your mind of all outside distractions when at the plate, etc.). This tape should be of outstanding value to young baseball players and should be considered by libraries without similar instruction (such as Professional Sports Training for Kids: Hitting with Ken Griffey, Jr., reviewed in VL-3/91). Four additional titles are also available: Glove Work, Behind The Mask, Grand Theft (on stealing bases) and Equipment Guru. Recomended. Aud: J, H, P. (S. Fisher)"

Product Description

Awarded National Review 1999 (first video since Ken Griffey Jr 1991). This video is currently the hottest selling item baseball has seen in decades! Experienced Mlb players Doug O'Neill (Texas Rangers, Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins) and Dan Cholowsky (Colorado Rockies, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals) provide a complete hitting instructional for all ages and skill levels. Teaching with a spring training like regimen, rarely made available to the public, the pros cover basic fundamentals (stance, grip, bat size, etc) as well as advanced training (hitting for power, mental preparation, pro techniques, live hitting). Also available by D&D Baseball: Glove Work, Behind The Mask, Grand Theft, Equipment Guru and Big League Training Pack (complete set).

5.0 out of 5 stars Way to go D&D!, March 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Batting A Thousand [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Here's one for our local boys! Who said good stuff comes from anywhere else than the Bay Area! My son is a student at a Middle school here in Los Gatos. He's also on their baseball team. Brians struggled with his dad on weekends trying to get his batting technique down. Only to come in the house afterward down in the dumps because he felt he wasn't quite getting it. His dad and I have both tried every thing from the batting cage to pitching to him ourselves. I was talking to a girlfriend of mine who's son said he just had to have a video called "Batting a Thousand" that two guys from our area had put together after being in pro ball. Boy! what a difference in Brians attitude, he looks forward to his school work so he can "clear his head" as he puts it, and then goes out to practice his swings and stances. Afterwards he comes in and feels real good about his progress. Thanks D&D for knowing what he needed and how to help him do it! P.S. LAST FRIDAYS GAME HE HIT A TRIPLE!

5.0 out of 5 stars THUMBS UP, March 24, 2000

I as a parent of a "future pro" I found this video very educational to my little leaguer. These guys made it easy for my son to learn the proper techniques of hitting as well as letting me understand what I am looking for as a "coach". Two thumbs up for an excellent video.

I bought this video because I wanted a solid technique to stop hitting pop flies. The lessons they give about visualizing the knob of the bat going through the ball got me to stop pop flying, and forced me to stop chasing high pitches. Not only will this make you hit better if you follow their instruction, it also makes it easier to understand exactly what you did wrong when you do get out. My hitting and confidence at the plate are much better after just a couple weeks.
