1.0 out of 5 stars SAVE YOUR MONEY!
I purchased this video for my ten year old son, and we were very disappointed. The video covered some real basic tips, that my son learned about two years ago in coaches pitch. My recommendation is to get rid of the pro players in the video, and reduce the price by $10.00, where it should be. I was thinking about ordering the pitching video from D&D, but now...

Here's one for our local boys! Who said good stuff comes from anywhere else than the Bay Area! My son is a student at a Middle school here in Los Gatos. He's also on their baseball team. Brians struggled with his dad on weekends trying to get his batting technique down. Only to come in the house afterward down in the dumps because he felt he wasn't quite getting it. His dad and I have both tried every thing from the batting cage to pitching to him ourselves. I was talking to a girlfriend of mine who's son said he just had to have a video called "Batting a Thousand" that two guys from our area had put together after being in pro ball. Boy! what a difference in Brians attitude, he looks forward to his school work so he can "clear his head" as he puts it, and then goes out to practice his swings and stances. Afterwards he comes in and feels real good about his progress. Thanks D&D for knowing what he needed and how to help him do it! P.S. LAST FRIDAYS GAME HE HIT A TRIPLE!

I as a parent of a "future pro" I found this video very educational to my little leaguer. These guys made it easy for my son to learn the proper techniques of hitting as well as letting me understand what I am looking for as a "coach". Two thumbs up for an excellent video.

I bought this video because I wanted a solid technique to stop hitting pop flies. The lessons they give about visualizing the knob of the bat going through the ball got me to stop pop flying, and forced me to stop chasing high pitches. Not only will this make you hit better if you follow their instruction, it also makes it easier to understand exactly what you did wrong when you do get out. My hitting and confidence at the plate are much better after just a couple weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yankee Pride, March 25, 2000

After living in the Big Apple (NY) we have seen video instruction come and go for a number of years. We even called the Yankees inquiring about instruction on video and didn't have much luck. With the exception of a few over priced hitting camps they had nothing to offer other than an occasional autograph....WOW! When we purchased D&D Baseball's set of videos we didn't know what to expect. These pros can really motivate a young ball player like no other tapes we've seen! Not only do they cover all fundamentals, they are extremely effective in teaching a young player to have confidence on the field. I sent a couple of these tapes to the Yankees hoping to stir up some enthusiasm for hometown instruction...No matter what happens it was the best investment our family has made for the kids in years.

Thanks D&D, Phil

My final recommendation for parents and coaches with kids from 6-12 years old, look at different videos. We bought the Little League's (Official How To Play Baseball Video) three years ago, and for the money, it's a lot better video than Batting A Thousand. It covers all areas of playing baseball, including batting, and is twice as long for less money. I wish that we could find a current video similar to this Little League video, but a little more advanced level.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lukewarm at best, June 24, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Batting A Thousand [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I bought "Batting A Thousand" for my son and was unimpressed. There were a few good tips, but too much time was spent on worthless topics -- batting gloves, some people like them, some don't. Not much help. They didn't show anything about the stance, lining up with the plate, or how to pick up the flight of the pitch. This may be the best video out there, but my son and I were both hoping for something with more useful information.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Solid Investment!, July 17, 2000

This video opened my eyes, as a parent, to the many struggles that youngsters go through even at the little league level. It has also provided easy solutions that have helped my oldest boy tremendously at the pony league level. Any parent who gives this video a thumbs down really doesn't know the game of baseball very well. After all, it has topped the charts 2 years in a row accross the nation in the category of baseball instruction. Pros taking time to help the youngsters out there in America is a can't miss on my list as well! Keep up the good work you guys!

Mark V.

5.0 out of 5 stars John's Best Friend!, March 13, 2000
This review is from: Batting A Thousand [VHS] (VHS Tape)
A few weeks ago my son, John, started watching these tapes and now claims that he'll someday break Mark Maguire's record. If he can or not isn't really the point. These tapes seem to provide a tremendous amount of confidence for the younger audience. The teaching style is simple but emphasizes being aggressive and having fun at the same time. Any time a player can accomplish both of these qualities on the diamond he's sure to feel like a winner no matter what league he plays in. Also the equipment tape was a little different than anything I have seen simply because it deals with off the field areas. A brilliant idea! It just goes to show you there's no replacement for pro experience when it comes to baseball. Who else would have thought to include a tape that adresses everything from dealing with bad wheather conditions (vasaline behind the ears, plastic bags over socks, etc.) to cost effective tips for all ages.

Best regards! Anthony
