Gr 5-8--A brief, readable, and well-organized introduction to the historical background surrounding this momentous battle. Important events are objectively described in a lucid, lively style. High-quality reproductions of original paintings, drawings, and portraits, many in color, appear every two or three pages, and enhance and explain the narrative. There are well-placed quotes from primary sources, the most notable of which are the comments of 12-year-old survivor of the Alamo, Enrique Esparza. Leonard Everett Fisher's The Alamo (Holiday, 1987; o.p.) is written for a similar age level, but focuses more on the building and grounds and features full-page portraits, original documents, and several drawings of the Alamo interior. A helpful resource that will serve readers well.

This review is from: Battle/Alamo:Fight For Texas (Spotlight on American History) (Library Binding)
The Battle of the Alamo by Carmen Bredeson is about people from different states who defend Texas' independence. I think they should have gotten reinforcements before the war started. The author Carmen Brendeson writes books about history that will make you feel like you are there. People who love history and battles should read this is a good book. I give it five stars!
