ONE OF THE GREATEST FIGHTING GAMES EVER!,

THIS FIGHTING GAME WAS ABSOLUTELY ONE OF THE GREATEST FIGHTING GAMES I'VE EVER PLAYED! THIS GAME IS VERY ADDICTIVE. THE GAME FEATURES POWERFUL FIGHTERS LIKE EIJI, KAYIN, DUKE, RINGO, AND MORE. THE GAME FEATURES EXCELLENT GRAPHICS, EXCELLENT GAMEPLAY, AND EXCELLENT MOVES. THIS WAS A VERY GOOD GAME AND IF YOU ASK ME, THIS ALMOST MAKES TEKKEN LOOK WACK! ONCE YOU FIND THIS, BUY IT ON SIGHT! FOLLOWED BY THREE MORE TOSHIDEN GAMES.

Battle Arena Toshinden (BAT) was made in 1995, the same year the PSX was first released. This means that BAT is pretty old and can be kinda hard to find. However I was lucky enough to get a copy still in the original box and with its original instructions ...from Electronics Boutique. Anyway, This game is old but still cool!!! The character graphics are pretty good even when compaired to most of the newer PSX fighters but the backgrounds are a tad plain. There are eight starting characters (each come in two forms) and two secret characters. Each one has his own variety of moves and special attacks. The sound is fair. Nothing outstanding. Same with the music.

This game got me hooked on the PSX,

As the title implies it was because of this game that I decided to go for the PSX. Until then I only had the NES and was looking at the the three next gen at the time (Sega Saturn, N64, PSX) and after my dad convinced me to rent the system, and this game, I was sold. The story behind it is a tournament (obviously) each with their own story behind why (like most fighting games) up until that time I had tried such arcade 3D fighting games such as Virtua Fighter, and Tekken and to say the least I was not impressed. This title however threw in the good 3D elements along with street fighter style Projectiles attacks. I was hooked. The graphics compared to today are very bad, however for it's time it could opf been considered revolutionary. There was even one point where EGM put it up against the mighty Soul Caliber, possibly the greatest 3d fighter of them all, and best game on the Dreamcast. Obviously Soul Caliber won but to even be put in the same league as it was a great honor. Get this game for specific reasons. It is one of PSX first games, also it features easy enough controsl and fun factor that can not be beat by most 3D fighters.

This game is awesome! It has good graphics, good music, and you can beat the crap out of everyone! My favorite character is Ellis (wanna know why? She was the first one I beat the game with), and boy can she kick the crap out of everyone. Even Gaia!

I have nothing but good memories of playing this game as a sophomore in high school. I saved up my Burger King money and bought a PSX on the day it released, along with this game and Ridge Racer. I couldn't believe I was playing this game on my tv at home! It was amazing. Sure, it might not be a 5-star game today, but in 1995 it sure was! Good times!

This game is pretty fun but gets boring. Its too easy to beat and has little character selection. Im sure you wont want this game anymore once you get the 3rd Battle Arena Toshinden.

An outdated bit of gaming history.,

Battle Arena Toshinden is one of the early games that launched with the Sony Playstation in 1995. As the system's first 3D weapon-based fighting game, Sony put major marketing muscle behind Battle Arena Toshinden to compel hardcore gamers to purchase their system over its fierce rival, the Sega Saturn. At the time, Battle Arena Toshinden was a major hit as it won over gamers and helped to sell millions of Playastions across the US.
However, as time went on, Battle Arena Toshinden was ultimately upstaged by its far superior successors, Namco's Tekken and Soulblade. Unlike its contemporaries, Battle Arena Toshinden has not aged well and proves itself to be a lackluster fighting game with a limited cast of fighters and moves, mediocre gameplay, sluggish controls, and outdated graphics. Despite these flaws, Battle Arena Toshinden is a great game for collectors looking to recapture a bit of nostalgia or the curious modern gamer who wants to revisit a bit of history to see where it all started for fighting games on the Sony Playstation. |
