Olympic Inspiration,
This review is from: Battle Athletes Victory, Vol. 6: Willpower (DVD)
Battle Athletes Victory is the best anime you are not watching. With this volume, Willpower, the series is approaching it's conclusion. The stoic and impassive Amazon Lahri Feldnut (Lahri Fernando in the dub), the current Cosmo Beauty, stands in the way of Akari's dream to follow in her mother's footsteps. As we know, Akari's mother was Tomoe Midoh, the legendary Cosmo Beauty who has most captured the public's admiration and hearts. Anna and Kris are also competing hard.
The other opponent in our heroines' way is Mylandah, the dangerous and unstable violet-haired powerhouse who is kept in chains and taken out only to compete. Mylandah hates Lahri with a passion, and will mow down anyone in her way to get to compete with Lahri. One of Akari's friends is badly hurt by Mylandah. This causes another of Akari's friends to undergo a personality change that could rock the finals. Mr. Miracle, the "special coach" is hysterical here. I laughed out loud more than I have for any of the Battle Athletes DVD's so far. And as always, I love the headmaster, the perfect Japanese gentleman. But where is the nurse in this DVD? I miss her. She is a great counterpart to the headmaster, and I hope that she is more than she lets on.

This review is from: Battle Athletes Victory, Vol. 6: Willpower (DVD)
The three episodes contained on this volume are the only ones of this particular series I have seen, but they were quite interesting. The Japanese version was nice and the dubbed version was above average. There wasn't much in the way of extra DVD stuff to look at other than previews for other series, but the three episodes themselves were plenty good for the moola spent. As for the show itself, the characters were somewhat intriguing, and the plot was appropriately silly while at the same time having a good deal of the sort of character interaction that results in a bit of drama and I myself was looking forward to the future developments, which I cannot comment upon at present due to the fact that I have not seen the following three final episodes. I would imagine that the rest of the series is worth a look and if you already do like the series then this volume is probably one of the best due to the intense rivalries that pop up in these very episodes.
