Relive the one of WWIIs most significant battles!
It is the most important event in the Royal Air Forces history. Go back to the summer of 1940 in the Battle of Britain and live through the tense moments leading up to the bombings, then brace for head-to-head combat and watch as a decision is made that will forever change the hearts and lives of an entire nation.
The film gives a chronological account of the country preparing to defend itself against the rising empire, then explores the myths surrounding the campaign and offers an unbiased history of the events in the skies over Britain. Relive this crucial turning point in World War II and feel what it was like to have lived through what may be the three most important months in the history of Great Britain perhaps even in the world.
By May 1940, World War II started in earnest. Soon, one of the wars most crucial battles would be fought. In The Few, examine the build-up to the Battle of Britain, discover the technological advances pioneered by the Royal Air Force, and relive the beginning of the battle itself. Plus, find out how the RAFs world-class fighters the Hurricane and the Spitfire held up versus enemy planes. Then, from July to the beginning of September 1940, both sides were finding their feet. The Darkest Hour shows how the RAF and the Luftwaffe each succeeded or failed in separate attacks until the Germans made a mistake. In The Blitz, see how Hitler decided to move the bombing strategy away from the airfields, to civilian London, a choice that would ultimately end in a loss for Germany.

This is the documentary not the Feature Film. Superb Air footage -good documentary. 140 minutes of sheer pleasure for any second world war fan.

I will watch it many times so I'm glad I bought it instead of renting on netflix.

2 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Jeffrey Noah on March 25, 2013
Format: DVD
Battle of Britain DVD offers far inferior video sharpness, compared to the movie, "The Battle of Britain" from which the film selections were taken.
Skin tones appear pasty, fine facial details missing, the colours of the aircraft and scenery look pastel, at best.

Documentaries made during WWII in black and white offer far sharper images. Ditto some WWI documentaries.
The DVD jacket back shows a US Navy Devastator dive bomber approaching an aircraft carrier, presumably US Navy.
Why the bomber tail gunner turret on the front cover?

Most of the commentary is identical to the movie, 'B of B".
A saddening missed opportunity to offer a documentary of the quality of the World At War
Although the price is low, I may return this disappointing DVD.
