This review is from: The Battle for the Last Days' Temple (Paperback)
Prof. Price collected a lot of important material about the struggle for the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. He is dealing with the history from jewish and moslem side and shows the big problem of the fight for the Temple Mount. Whoever wants to understand what is going on in the israel-arab conflict should read that book to get an impression what is the story behind the headlines in the media. Prof. Price wrote his book as a christian and shares with the readers his view of the prophecy of the bible. Even if someone doesn't accept his interpretations of the biblical scriptures everyone will have in his book a great pool of important informations to this sensitive place. Great are the interviews with leading archaeologist, religious and polital leaders on both sides. So one gets first hand information from the people involved in the conflict.

This is a fantastic history book. The author is clear and always has direction. This is all about the Temple Mount's place throughout history and into Bible prophecy. Even non-Christians can appreciate the rich history Price puts forth. I read the book before bed and have a hard time falling asleep it is so exciting.

If you want an excellent history of the Jewish temple and the temple mount, READ THIS BOOK. Great insights into the Arab-Israeli conflict. Did you know that the Palestinians are doing all they can to erase any archeological evidence that Israel ever inhabited Jerusalem in ancient times? They hope this will enable them to snooker the world into believing they are the only rightful owners of the land. GREAT BOOK.

Temple Mount or Bust,

This review is from: The Battle for the Last Days' Temple (Paperback)
Engaging read and chronicle of the complete existance of the Temple Mount from the time of King David's purchase of threshing floor of Araunah on 990 B.C. to 2004 when the book was written and then prophecy to what will happen at The End which is also interesting reading.Covers the construction of the first Temple by Solomon and its destruction by Babylon to construction of the second Temple to its destruction by Rome. From there it is a meandering course of different conquests, for a while the Mount is a trash dump, to fullfill prophecy. With the advent of Islam they take possession in 638 for 400 years, eventually it is said that Muhammad hitched his horse there for his heavenly journey. So, The Mount becomes the third most holy place of Islam. The Crusaders liberate Jerusalem in 1100 but it is retaken in 1187. Not until 1845 during the Crimean War do Turkey, France, England, and Russia resolve guardianship. From 1917 to 1947 it is under British rule with continued struggle between Arabs and Jews. Then in 1948 Israeli independence is granted then more battle until 1967 when Israel claims victory, then Moshe Dayan lets the Mount go so as not to provoke the Arabs. In 1969 an Australian cult leader sets a fire to cause problems. Then there is just a list of bad behavior that always result in rioting, stone throwing, and law suits. At one point a person throws a pig's head onto the area as a form of defilement, theatre of the absurd. Mentions that a full-size model of the temple has been built so priests can practice for the day when the Temple is rebuilt. At times people have carried around stones they say will be the Temple corner stones. Islam says there was never a Temple there. As is mentioned by the author, Americans in our plural society cannot understand this behavior. This book helps flesh out the on-going battle but nothing but the Second Coming and Christ's Millennial reign is going to solve this situation. |
