5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book to Read to Prepare for War against the Enemy

2.0 out of 5 stars Questionable quotes
I really liked the book in some things; however, some of this author's beliefs just don't tie to the Bible and Christianity. For example:

He quotes Revelations 12:7
'And there was a great battle in heaven, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels'
(and he uses this to claim that war is taking place in...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book to Read to Prepare for War against the Enemy, October 14, 1999
This review is from: The Battle Is the Lord's: Waging Victorious Spiritual Warfare (Hardcover)
This is a "must read" for every genuine Christian because we are truly caught in the middle of the battlefield of a spiritual war. Tony Evans gives us encouraging insight into our position in this war. To learn that we are not fighting for victory, but from a position of victory changed my entire perspective toward the enemy and eliminated the fear and loneliness of spiritual battles. To know that we are not in the battle alone, that there is a "third person" in the battle with us, erased all thoughts of defeat and exposed Satan for the deceiver that he is. Tony Evans goes into great depth to explain two major principles: that Jesus Christ has already won the victory and has given it to us by virture of our postion IN CHRIST.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will bless your life, May 7, 2000
By
This review is from: The Battle Is the Lord's: Waging Victorious Spiritual Warfare (Hardcover)
For those who reviewed this book before me stating that if God is all-powerful and loving there could be no spiritual warfare: spiritual warfare is real because God gives us free will. We must choose our ways and who we will serve. He will not "force" Himself and His will on us. And with all due respect, such comments indicate no Bible knowledge and I doubt some of these reviewers even read the book... This book lines up perfectly with the Word of God and will really make a positive difference in your life. The events in the invisible, spiritual realm control what happens in the visible/natural realm. If you don't believe in or don't understand spiritual warfare, you are already a casualty of this very real war.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most sound books on spiritual warfare! - Amen, July 6, 2006
I am an avid reader of Christian literature and found this book to be the most exciting and stimulating in further understanding of spiritual warfare! In fact the whole book read like one sermon after another exposing you to an easier yet greater understanding to spiritual warfare, while providing a strong yet simple commentary on early Genesis. Dr. Evans uses lots of symbolism that would help anyone who is lacking knowledge on spiritual warfare to understand it and better serve Christ through it; thus making this book a must have for all. Of course it is sad that some have attacked this book as they are spiritually ignorant and carnal to the truth of Christ as they will attack anything that does not conform to their view of worldly christianity; please pray for them! Dr. Tony Evans has never steered me wrong through his books nor his sermons as I carefully study every author and preacher I encounter (of course the man is not perfect).

Tony Evans writes this book as if he were sitting in your living room. He logically brings you through Bible verse after Bible verse to explain how a spiritual warfare affects your relationships, thoughts, etc. Get it! I am giving it to all of our friends and family for gifts this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars A guide to understanding & success in spiritual warfare., February 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Battle Is the Lord's: Waging Victorious Spiritual Warfare (Hardcover)
This is the best book yet on the topic of spiritual warfare. Tony Evans strikes at the heart of what too few preachers are willing to; the fact that spiritual warfare is real, that (like it or not) our life is a constant battle and that Satan is more than the Halloween image we think about and don't fear. Moreover, we have the authority to win this battle. This book made me realize that God has equipped me to successfully fight this battle. Thank you Tony.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful teaching and easy to read, October 14, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: The Battle Is the Lord's: Waging Victorious Spiritual Warfare (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful book to help you see the big picture beyond the daily grind of life. If even the idea of "spiritual warfare" makes you a little queasy, this book will put you at ease. It gives practical suggestions for calling on God's power, without getting spooky or overly-focused on demonic forces. Anyone, regardless of how much (or little) theology they've studied, can read and understand this book. The message is powerful, and the lessons stay with you long after you've finished the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spiritual warfare DOES exist, April 11, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Battle Is the Lord's: Waging Victorious Spiritual Warfare (Hardcover)
I am writing this mainly in response to those who believe spiritual warfare does not exist today and that therefore there is no need for books like this one. True, God is omnipotent, but Satan is still, through the fall of Adam, the prince of this world. God's omnipotence is exercised in his eternal plan, though it may not seem apparent from today's point of view. Part of God's plan is to use Christians in the field of spiritual battle. God's omnipotence guarantees victory, but does not prevent battles from taking place.

For examples of spiritual warfare, read about missionaries out in the field or intercessors who's prayers have resulted in supernatural healing and protection.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent eye opening book., May 24, 1999
By
This review is from: The Battle Is the Lord's: Waging Victorious Spiritual Warfare (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book that should be read along with the bible that will give you some incite as to the road you will travel. It is like a road map which I have traveled. I believe that anyone who doesn't know these things will benefit by it especially if you are a baby christian. I found that although I knew about all of the subjected covered it inspired me to get more serious with my warfare. It brings out a very important point that christian MUST realize that they are in a constant battle and they need to think and act accordingly instead of setting around waiting for God to do something that they should be doing. This is the first one of the author's books that I have read. You can not stress the point of warfare enough until people really start viewing this situation as a battle and they we are fighting for the kingdom of God. So stand up warriors and fight the battle and the good fight of faith. The battle is already won. Hold on to the victory and give God the glory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely UNSCALING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, April 21, 1999
This review is from: The Battle Is the Lord's: Waging Victorious Spiritual Warfare (Hardcover)
This book is eye-opening. Tony Evans does an outstanding job. He goes back to the beginning of creation and pulls the covers of the devil. He explains the reason God created us. His purpose for us. What spiritual warfare really is. Why the devil hates us, our family and the world. What Eve really did in the garden and what Adam gave up. The tactics of the enemy of our souls. This book has everything you would ever want to know about warfare. He tell of the nature of demons, angels and their purpose. In other words, this book is awesome!!!!!!!!!! It has been a great asset to my spiritual growth and understanding. I thank God for using the man of God to equip his people for war. I would recommend this book to anyone who is serious about taking back what the devil has stolen from the people of God.
