Sorry end to a good series, March 26, 2007
This review is from: Battle Of The Planets Volume 3: Destroy All Monsters (Paperback)
I liked the first two parts of this--the story was tight, the action was fun and there were careful, subtle threads of mystery and romance woven through. I can't explain this last volume though. It sets up some intriguing stuff but gradually loses its momentum and then simply ends in the middle of the story. There's no resolution for the threads that are set up here, and many of the threads from earlier novels remain dangling as well. The much-hyped "cliffhanger ending" is there alright, but it's never resolved or paid off. To add insult to injury, there *are* follow up pages to this unresolved story, but they tell a totally unrelated short story which reads like a bad fanfic.
Very disappointing. A tight, fun series for the most part, but it just loses its focus for no apparent reason and tails off with a whimper.

Good series, April 11, 2005
This review is from: Battle Of The Planets Volume 3: Destroy All Monsters (Paperback)
I really liked this redition of G-Force. The artwork was top notch and the story line were pretty good, maybe a bit too many detours for a supposed one off. I'm not sure how biased I am since this was a childhood favorite of mine.
Hopefully they continue the story soon. You shouldn't leave a cliffhanger like that unless you're pretty sure it will coninue.

Conclusion? What conclusion?, February 26, 2005
This review is from: Battle Of The Planets Volume 3: Destroy All Monsters (Paperback)
The ending totally ruined it for me. Well, I won't say "ending" as much as "the place where they stopped," because despite calling it a gripping conclusion, nothing was concluded. Not only did they not wrap up the plot, but they added in a cliffhanger. Jason's vanished after a fight with Mark that came out of thin air. Some dark figure in a G-Force costume is now claiming to be loyal to Zoltar. We had a page or two of the janitor who intimates that he's Keyop's cell donor for cloning. But no conclusion.
Note to the writers: a conclusion means you wrap up the story, not that you stop it as if it ran into a wall at a hundred miles per hour.
The prior storyline wraps up in issue 10, but then there are two extra tacked-on issues, which honestly didn't need to be there. If they'd just stopped without those two final issues, it would be okay. Instead I looked at all the pages left to turn and thought, "What on earth are they going to fill it with?" The answer? Nothing. They filled it with nothing.
The "Jason" one-shot was rather confusing without reference to the original series, and the "Mark" one left me yawning. After reading this, I'm not wondering why they canned this comic. Save your money. Buy the DVDs of the original series.
