4.0 out of 5 stars Oswald Does 'em All, July 1, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Battle Pope Volume 3: Pillow Talk (v. 3) (Paperback)
Pope Oswald Leopold II has taken down Hellcorp a second time. Unfortunately he now needs to find new living arrangements for his friends and acquaintances. They move into a cathedral that has seen no business since religion ended after the Rapture. When Jesus needs a bedtime story we learn some of Oswald's past as Pope. Then things seem to be going well as Oswald and Jesus are getting rid of lawbreaking demons. But a shadow looms on the horizon. That shadow is Christmas. Just what does Jesus think about the way this holiday is celebrated? Well, we get treated to an interesting scenario.

With Christmas coming we also learn about the history of Santa Clause and how he got his start. The holiday also brings Mary, Jesus's mother. If lusting after a leather-clad demon isn't bad enough for Oswald, just wait and see what happens when he gets an eyeful of Mary. How will it all work out?

Another creative trip into a twisted world. The way the whole Santa Clause vs. Birth of Christ issue is handled shows Kirkman's creativity and genius. Much like South Park which can take powerful messages and wrap then in trite sensationalism, there are some real deep thoughts behind the action, babes, demons, and humor. If you have been able to read the first two volumes without wanting to string up the author then you should check this one out.
