Although this book was written for men I found it extremely informative and interesting. The author, a man who has a ministry for men takes everyday occurrances and shows how they are a part of God's plans even if we can't see it at the time. This book is about having faith in God. God uses many different stages to hone us into servants that are capable of standing strong in the face of difficulties. Although we may go through the desert of monotony, disappointment, and down right boredom, it is our faith that God will use us and our study of the Word that in the end makes us ready for the trials of leadership ahead. God can not use someone who is too anxious to be the leader and is not capable of standing in the face of problems, he uses the leader who can face anything and carry on. The men of the bible that Mr Farrar focuses on are Caleb and Joshua, two men of great leadership and strength who spent 40 years wandering in the desert before being allowed to enter the Promised Land. This is the second book in the Bold Men series and is definitely a must read for anyone interested in a look behind the scenes of a "successful" Christian leader.

This book is not just a great read, (I've read some of it too!), it is providing great jump-offs for stimulating discussion at my husband's Bible study. He says it is inspirational and challenging.

Being a Christian woman has its challenges and I cannot imagine the challenges Christian men have to face every day. Christian men must be strong leaders for their families and books like Battle Ready can be useful resources to turn to.

This book focuses on two men of the Bible who were strong men for God, Joshua and Caleb. Battle Ready goes beyond just being a Bible study. It is a very honest, personal, and straightforward book that goes deep into the Word to help men be strong for God. There is a very good section about bitterness in the Increased Hardship chapter that is very surprising and interesting. There is a lot of very interesting and useful information and Godly advice in the pages of this book.

I learned a lot from this book and I know that men will be able to get a lot out of this very practical and very well written book. I highly recommend Battle Ready for all Christian men. The Christian life is not an easy one and men need to be prepared for the battles that are coming. I know my husband is looking forward to getting his hands on this book.

Great book - challenging as well as convicting. Recommend it to all men - especially fathers.

As the mother of two sons I was really interested in reading this book. The back cover says:

"There is a kind of man God uses. He stands tall in the face of giants. He strives to honor God through his life. He is trusting when it seems all hope is lost. And when life is uncertain, he is certain of God's unfailing provision."

Further the back cover says:

"Uncover the traits of authentic manhood. Learn how to fully lean on Him . And become a man God can use, a man who is battle ready!"

I had really high hopes prior to reading this book. This part of the Bold Men of God series and features Joshua and Caleb. I have to say that I did get a lot out of this book and will be making sure both of my sons get copies of it.

I think the biggest theme in the book is that it gives example after Biblical example of men who stood on Faith through hard times. This book is about dealing with hardship and hard times as much as it is about these men in the Bible.

With the state of our economy and the country in general, now more than ever we all need words of encouragement. This book, while directed at men, gives those words of encouragement. The author shows again and again in the Bible where God has promised to provide for us, to sustain us. We just have to have Faith.

This book is very uplifting and encouraging and I'd recommend it.

"Battle Ready" by Steve Farrar is an incredible read for those who are preparing to be used by God. It's even a great read for those who aren't so much preparing to be used, but trying to figure out where they fit into God's plan. Whether man or woman, all who read this will come to grips with their role as "Christian Soldiers" as the author presents the wonderful examples of preparedness from American history of issues that were tackled in Biblical times and still find themselves to be modern-day problems in the world and the spiritual realm.

This book is loaded with terrific discussion questions for your book group or your own personal reflection. This eye-opening book showcases the lives of Caleb and Joshua - the only two Israelites who left Egypt with Moses and were permitted by God to enter the promised land. The lives of these two men who allowed themselves to be used by God are filled with great examples for us today about how we should make ourselves available to the Lord.

I started this expecting another crank-it-out-to-make-a-buck book.

This is not. This is true Christian manhood with a serious look at addressing the struggles of life.

IF you want to be challeged to be a man of God who can be used this book is for you. Steve tells you how it is and how to make it through the tough times when God allowing you to refined through suffering.

After reading positive feedback on this particular title, I decided to give it a go and prepared to be inspired. I dislike having to so strongly criticize the authors labor, but this book did little to prepare me to be used by God. The book felt like a forum the author chose to use to vent his political frustrations. If ever afforded the opportunity, I would personally ask the author for my money back.
