Superb soundtrack,

This review is from: Battle Royale (Audio CD)
The musical score in Battle Royale is in my opinion some of the best I've heard in a soundtrack. It's a great collection of classical, orchaestral music. If you've seen the movie and adored the soundtrack, or if you just like classical I recommend you buy this CD. The only real problem I had with the soundtrack was that it doesn't contain the song from Dragon Ash on it.

A Genuine Masterpiece!,

This album carries a hefty price tag but I assure you, if you are into classical music, or are just a fan of the Battle Royale film, this is for you. Every piece played in the movie has been compiled, well except the credits music, but thats nothing to me. The music in Battle Royale is fast paced, engaging, dramatic, violent, yet beautiful, and overall an excellent listening experience.

One of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time.,

Containing a total of 23 songs, all of them classical music- what a brilliant choice for this movie!- "Battle Royale" is quite possible not only one of the greatest, but perhaps *the* greatest movie soundtrack I've ever come across. The scenes with combat have faster-paced music, the more dramatic ones, romantic ones, music to match as well. On the front is a class photo and the massive, dominating BR logo. On the back- a picture of the island where the class wipes itself out, maybe. One of my only gripes about this fine listing of songs from the movie, some famous classical pieces and some obscure, is that on this CD at least the whole bloody list is in French. I don't know about you, dear reader, but I cannot read any more than perhaps five words of French. My only other complaint is that, strictly speaking, this soundtrack is not complete. Dragon Ash made a song that was a magnificent finishing piece in the movie's credits, and it is conspicuously lacking here.
Battle Royale is one of the finest movie's I've ever seen. If you enjoyed it, this soundtrack is something you simply must have. It isn't completely perfect, but it's close. Certainly good enough for me. The composer, Masamichi Amano, did a superb job. Bravo, sir.

I've read the book and watched the film and of course as usual the book is always better. (Goes into more detail than the film) However, I think the music is moving and gut-wrenching. You really feel pity for these kids. I loved Kiriyama's theme. He was my favorite character, even though he was a few fries short of a Happy Meal. He made my hair stand on end.
Love the way classical music was mixed with Masamichi Amano's own compositions. I highly recommend! Five stars! |
